I own an SB-2 and an L2000, both Tributes. They're my #1 and #2. I don't think either of them will leave my collection unless they get replaced by a USA model.

In my mind, since G&L was Leo Fender's last company, they are the culmination of his many years of experience.

I've owned a lot of Bass guitars throughout the years. Anyone own any use the G&L bass. I've seen a couple I like and would like a review on these models.

Here's mine. L-2000 Tribute, bought used for $450 after it sat there enticing me for several months. It is awesome! Just recorded with it & was blown away with the growly tone. I'd wanted one for years & have zero trigger-pulling regrets! Get one!

The LB-100 that I own is the finest sounding P-Bass that I have ever picked up. Take a look at their transparent finishes. There are non finer in the world. Take advantage of this brand which holds the latest in true Fender lineage.

LB-100 = P-bass on steroids. I love mine.

I also have a USA M-2500 and it is appropriately named 'Workhorse'. Essentially a Swiss Army bass....

agreed. One of the best G&Ls I've ever owned was a Tribute SB-2. The Tributes are an astonishing value.

I got an sb-2 tribute last year as my main backup and it is great. In fact, I was looking to upgrade recently and got a MM caprice last week. The caprice couldn't match the tribute's sound or output (both are passive basses) and it got returned. I mean it wasn't even close for me. I am on the lookout for a three knob USA sb-2 but that's the only thing that would replace the one I currently have.

Another happy G&L owner here. I own other "more expensive" basses, but my latest L2500 leaves the house more than the other basses.

Tribute L2500 owner here. It's superior to any US bass that I've owned so far and has become my workhorse. No shortage of tonal capabilities.

I have owned two. Both extremely good basses. Very solid. Lots of "playability," tones, versatility. I have thinned my herd down to only three, so I have no G&L's right now. I did contact them about a lefty Kiloton, but they are not available. When they become available, I will likely get one.

Not a tribute. I'd be interested in getting my hands on a usa SB2 with the vvt knobs and side output jack. If my tribute is any indicator it seems to me that's be the ideal setup and sound for a passive bass.

To be clear, the tribute I've got has impressed me way more than any other sub $1000 bass I've ever played and a couple that are well over that price point, which is why i'd be willing to spring for a USA model.

Sorry for the confusion. The T in SB-2T stands for Tone, not Tribute.
Yes, a USA-made G&L.
It's the one with the factory tone knob, not the aftermarket one, although those can be found on Ebay from Japan.
I just happen to know of a beautiful SB-2T for sale. I promised myself I'd buy it but I'd have to buy using Affirm (buy now pay later) because I don't have the cash. Affirm was only able to approve me for $1,000, so I had to pass.
Bass is still available. If it's still available a few months from now, maybe I can afford it but I did just buy something else.

I currently have three ('83, '89 and '96) and each is great and different from the others. One thing to keep in mind with G&Ls is they offer many different neck profiles. Mine are all maple bi-cuts, which are different from current offerings. So it's probably wise to try before you buy, if possible.

I think it was a L2000 or M2000? Natural, passive, two humbuckers, made a pair with my G&L F-100II. Not sure if that's the one the bassist left on the roof of his car and drove off, or it was otherwise stolen ... Since then I've searched for another, and found 'em, but never had the $ ...
