Yeah! Isn't that percussive thing great? I'm not sure if he was using some kind of left hand slap, but he was definitely eliciting some texture when he wanted it.
The Lynx G&Ls were the same as 82-84 SB-2s but with a rosewood neck? This looks to be a hybrid either Lynx or SB-2 body which were the same with a later G&L Maple spike neck. Sounds close to my 83 and 84 SB-2. http://www.ggjaguar.com/lynx.htm Great link with great licks.

lynx are the same guts yes, but on a contoured body.

Can someone tell me how much of a difference there is in pickup placement between an L1000 and the bridge pickup on an L2000?

May I ask what model of G&L bass that is? Also, what are the picups? Are they stock G&L?

I don't know if I have ever posted this one. My shiny mahogany L1000 with big hex poles. Born in the last 2 weeks of December 1980. Currently it's my only G&L and it's a monster.
Awesome! I want to see some closeups of that neck.

Thanks! This is about the best I have for now. The neck is fairly flamey with some birds eye dots here and there. I way overpaid for this bass in late 2007 because it was so nice. I think it was worth it.

FWIW... I have played my 1984 L-1000 at band rehearsal two times instead of the "go-to" bass I have, a 2007Am Dlx Fender Precision. The Precision has a chunkier neck, and I was a bit hesitant to use the Wunkay because I tend to get cramps in my left hand with skinny necks. Not so this time. I get such a ballsy sound with the Wunkay single-coil setting mainly that I am smiling all through the rehearsals. (Ampage at rehearsal space: LittleMark Tube into Ampeg 4x10.) (Just wanted to share this. Rock on!)

1987, Transparent Blue ash, wide flat P neck. Heavy booger, at just over 10lbs, but I've never felt more immediately at home on a bass with the possible exception of my Smith 5'er.
I'd love a number!

Those are beauties!
I recently put my 1983 L1K up on craigslist because I haven't played it in a long while. Mine weighs 10lbs 12oz. I play mainly at home and just the thought of pulling it out of the case makes me wince. So, I get an interested party on the line and he wants to know a lot of details. I pull out the bass and strap it on because he's concerned about neck dive. Wants to know how it sits. As I stand there, with phone to ear and bass strapped on, I'm thinking, this doesn't feel that bad! After I get off the the phone I plug it in and have a go. Man what was I thinking! What sustain! What tone! Ad deleted!
I think I'll just keep it on the stand.
