Check out the link and scroll down to the picture of the bass body and see if you guys see the pearl tops. I'm pretty sure thats what I'm seeing and maybe they are aftermarket or maybe they are available upon request for the Anniversary bass being the Pearl is the theme of the Anniversary.

Looks like normal knobs to me. Notice the middle one is quite a bit darker. I'm pretty sure it's just light glare from camera gear.

Plus there is no mention in the description page about the knobs. The pickups are noted for having custom covers.

I'm not sure you scrolled all the way down in his link. Those are clearly pearl domes in one of those pix, from what I see.
Seller replied to my question and says that there are no pearl caps on the tone knobs. But I say that that picture shows pearl knobs.
Hey FACEINBASS! This stuff works wonders for removing oxidization from cable ends. I'm certain that it will work just as well on pole pieces. You can order it online, or find it at Radio Shack.

I scoured through the emails I've received about the 30th instruments and I've pretty well gone through the info on G&L's website. I can find no mention of pearl-topped knobs on any of the anniversary instruments. G&L does a lot of stuff that doesn't make it to product descriptions, but not mentioning something like this when they have made a VERY big deal of the other pearl appointments makes zero sense.
I think what folks are seeing is a combination of reflections from the environment that the seller is using to shoot the photos, digital processing, and what the viewer wants to see. There are three images that show the bass' control knobs, and only the last one has even a hint of a pearly look on the knobs. The others look absolutely like the chrome knobs we all know and love. Additionally, all the images have a processed (read that Photoshopped) look to them, as evidenced by the unnatural lighting and the less than perfect cutouts of the bass from its real surroundings.
I could be wrong, but based on the above I do not believe that the knobs are pearl topped. It's just an aberration caused by the processing and reflections.

Fretless 1981 L-2000 E. Would such a thing exist, either stock, or special order from the factory? Would it be a sacrilege to refret it (once I get my hands on it)?? (Seller says the fret lines are made of fret wire material.)

My main bass for 20 years was a 1981 L2000Ke, it had an ebony board with no lines.
Wow... Last night I really got to put my new G&L L-2000 through its paces for the first time. I had played it in a band setting once before, but it was with flatwounds which I didn't like that much in that context. i thought they sounded great on their own, but got too muddy in a full band mix. Also gotta give props to Dean Markley SR-2000 strings. They're literally the best sounding strings, personally, that I've ever tried.
Anyway, so last night was my second time with the bass in a band setting, first time with rounds on there... ... ... AMAZING! the other guys in the band couldnt stop talking about how incredible I sounded. "You're not at all too loud, but I can hear you so clearly through everybody!" - That was my favorite comment! That's what I've been searching for since I was 14 years old and first picked up the bass (I'm 24 now)
I'M IN LOVE!
p.s. also, the 6th, 7th, 8th fret buzzing... it's there acoustically, but doesn't really come through the amp that much. I dont mind. I had to loosen the truss rod quite a bit from how the guy originally had it setup for me. What a waste of $25 paying him to do it. At least now I'll never have to take my bass to somebody else for a setup again.

Being able to set up a bass or guitar is such a benefit and such a personal taste that I can't understand why more people don't learn this skill. The more you do it, the better you become at it.
Precisely! I do all of my own setup work. My G&Ls have come from dealers, and they have done great jobs, but a wee bit more tweaking is all that I have had to do on those. Now, the Squiers from GC, on the other hand...
Sure am. Some adjustment coming from a MIM Jazz Fretless with flats but it sounds, feels and plays great. It has the perfect slap tone as far as I am concerned too. Now I just need to get my band to play some songs that have slap.
I know I paid a lot for it and took a risk getting it sight unseen but it is exactly what I wanted and I don't think I'll ever regret it.
