Sorry, I'm not sure I know what you mean. Like, some shop or warehouse in Middle American that might have a bunch of SB-2s ready to ship AND they'd be willing to mod as well?

BTW, even if the guys I'm currently dealing with are an hour away from where I live, I'd like to purchase at least be "almost" local. Plus, so far they seem like pretty accomidating, stand up guys.

Yeah, the concentric v/t v/t isn't my bag either though I wouldn't kick it out of bed. What I'd really like is a vol/pickup pan/tone layout. But if this isn't possible, the old Jazz v/v/t would be fine.

BTW, I'll check out Rocket Music and see what they can do for me. But as I said before, I'd really like to try and work with some locals. So far, they've been pretty cool. The price quote they gave me was very fair (I'm just waiting to hear about the possible tone knob option). And if it turns out I don't like the bass, I don't have to deal with any shipping to get my refund. Still, I appreciate the info and will have a look!

Get back and let us know if G&L will do the mod. I kinda doubt it but who knows.

You'll find that the difference heard if flats are used is due to the fact that flats, by their very nature, tend to damp vibration. You can get a feel for this if you have a couple basses; one with flats the other with rounds, and you pluck an open string. The bass with the rounds will almost always have a lot better sustain. It's just the nature of the way the strings work.

Where I'm going with this is that native vibration damping from flats will usually outweigh damping attributable to bridge attachment. The bridge mod may help some, and is needed if you top load, but the difference in tone will be slight compared to rounds.

I see you don't take PM's so I'm just gonna post here. I found a source for 6-32 aluminum and brass spacers that fit perfectly for the mod (just installed them). They are 1/4" in length and need no modifications:

The company is "Digikey". I found I could use a hex driver to get the spacer started. Once it got too close to the string ferule I used a small flathead screwdriver to prevent it from rotating when torquing the phillips screw tight.

This is from the beige cover catalog.

The LB100, Alnico pu, was listed with the SB-1 with split MFD.

G&L Basses for everybody's pu preference.

I've got a quick question. Sorry if this has been asked multiple times, but I wasn't sure where to look. The only G&L I've ever had the chance to play was a SB-2 Tribute, and the neck was really thick front to back. Is the JB-2 Trib. the same way?

Many retailers have a trail periond wherein if you don't like the bass, you pay return shipping, and eat shipping to you.
You can look at it as a "$50 one week rental."
I've done with with several basses I was unsure of.

Yeah... I just did similar business with an online music store...
I planned on keeping it as my 2nd L-2000.....Though I would love it like the one I bought from a different online dealer about 2 months prior.
But once I got it...I loved my initial L-2000 MUCH better.
I had 30 days to return this one for a refund...

The problem with that was, I had to eat the mandatory 2 day FedEX air they make you use to ship it initially when purchased.... at a cost of $70.00.
Then I shipped it back for my refund via UPS ground at $60.00 insured.

So I lost $130 in the process...plus the time and hassle.
AND might loose more in fees when it gets refunded via paypal? Not sure if that is the case with paypal refunds or not? Funny thing is when I paid them the $1,400 via paypal to buy it , my payment cleared instantly.....
But when they refunded me, it is taking 7 days to clear for some odd reason?

I paid the same exact amount for both of the brand new L-2000's from 2 different dealers and one just flat out blew the other out of the water.
