I posted this on the G&L forum but no luck. Has anybody seen a G&L bass done in the Whiskey finish they use on the Jerry Cantrell guitar? Im thinking it would look great over ash on an SB-2 with black 3ply pg and maple neck or on an L2K with ebony board and matching HS.

I tried a Tribute L2500 yesterday afternoon trying a Fender American Standard Precision and my mind is made up. G&L all the way. The Tribute is used and in excellent condition, going for $599. Doe this appear to be a good deal?

Not really. You can get a used USA G&L for not much more.

I bought a used Tribute off a fellow TB member for $475. Tribs are all over the place. Great basses, especially for the money.

They go for $800 new. I think you can do better for a Trib. I got mine for $500 new and it was a smokin' good deal at that price.

Whether you wait for a USA version is up to you, but it will likely cost you at least a couple of hundred more. That feels like a lot of money to me, but YMMV.

Won't really go wrong with either. I decided that the differences weren't worth the couple of hundred dollars to ME, but again, YMMV.
