vol/treb/bass; as per stock

mini switches are:
pup selector
neck pickup coil tap (this used to be coil tap for both pups)
bridge pickup coil tap (this used to be preamp switch)

I used to have my old fretted L2500 wired with individual coil-switches for each pickup: Parallel/SC/Series w/caps. I used all the options pretty regularly, but the SC mode was my favorite and used more often. I did find a lot of use for parallel when playing funk, and of course, series was pretty brutal when I needed gnarly and loud.

I've been thinking about modding my fretless to be that way, but I have found I like having the preamp at times.

I would like to put an ACG filter EQ into it with it's active blend, but I do use the bass-cut control quite a bit on this bass and I'd lose that capability. I may rig up a "bass-cut" switch - 2 or 3 way with a few settings - and then install the ACG with independent coil switches for each pickup.

I just bought a used Audere Classic 4-Band pre so my controls will soon be volume/blend, high mid/low mid, treble/bass, pickup selector, and then parallel/inner coil/series for each pickup. I might skip parallel altogether and wire them up inner/series/outer.

I'd be very interested to hear what it sounds like with the neck pickup in parallel and the bridge pickup in single coil, a la P/J. If there's not too much hum, this might make me get back to an L2000 at some point.

Fretted, fretless... Yes please!

I'd love to get just the electronics to retrofit into my fretless L2500, which was a gift from my wife (10th Aniv), so I can't - nor do I want - to get rid of it. Well, she said I could, but I like it too much. However, the new electronics are exactly what I've pined for since my first G&L, including the under-wound series pickups, as well as the preamp option.

Standard options are available. As to retro-fitting an L Series, it will not sound the same. Probably better to keep what you have.

Hello! I have a quick question for all of you G&L lovers out there. I'm in the market for an L2000 Tribute. Are there any wood combos that people prefer? Also, what is the going rate for a used tribute? I see a couple of nice looking basses on the 'bay, but hardly any bids on them. I just want to make sure I'm not walking into a pitfall that I'm not aware of due to being new to the brand. I appreciate any insight you guys can give, thanks!

The wood combo is just what you prefer. I don't think the rosewood sounds different than the maple. Whatever looks good to you.

I recently bought a minty used L2000 Tribute on Ebay for $400 shipped. I think that's right around the going rate. It depends on the condition and whether it comes with the gig bag (which is a really nice bag).

I was just informed in another thread that because my L2k Tribute is made of Basswood, it is mind-boggingly inferior to other Tributes:

The above "facts" were later corroborated several times in that thread.
I may just have to sell it...or maybe just give it away because the Basswood Tribute is apparently a POS.

All this time, I (and everyone else who has ever played it) thought it was killer, only to be informed by the TalkBass Wood Police that it actually sucks..and has no snap.
