anyone know where i can get a different colored l-2000 bridge? i want to get my hands on a black and silver one, right now i just have the silver one and their website seems to not have much information on the matter, could anyone help me? or is it possible to just recolor mine myself with some effort and time

I think you're referring to what was known as the "black crinkle" bridge. They were standard earlier (I want to say, and I could be really off, they stopped around the mid 90s)

Apparently they're making black hardware again. There's a youtube clip that I simply cannot find from this years NAMM show where the M-2000 made it's debut. In the clip you could see a bass with all black hardware and it looked fantastic.

Your best bet is to contact them directly about it, IMO.

Picked up an 80's El-Toro with a mahogany body and rosewood board. It's in great condition for a nearly 30 year old bass. Nice chunky neck and a sound reminiscent of my L-2500. It's a bit tighter with a more pronounced low-mid bark. Killer bass and I think it'll be a great gigging bass, it'll be death when my B3K shows up. I'll have to adjust to the meat of the neck but I'm thrilled so far.

EDIT: Just noticed the non-blackened pole pieces on the pickups, and that the saddles are chrome. Wonder if that's an L-2000 there for comparison?

I don't think the preamp is that significant to the tone of the L series... You can play the L series completely passive and the tone will remain almost the same, just with a little bit less volume and less high end.

If you want the L series tone on another bass I think the best way to get close to them is by changing the pickups to the MFDs ones...

But if you really want one, you could try to contact them through their website. Since they sell the MFDs and other components there, you can probably get the preamp as well.

Indian Walnut IIRC...

There is a thread somewhere in this section with two guys who bought those, one L2K and one L2500, both extremely gorgeous basses... But no M series of those, AFAIK.

see now, I have an 86 SB-1 with the crinkle and I loves it. Then again, I have a soft spot for black hardware
