Having been a J bass player my whole musical "career" I have decided to try something new: I am picking up a used Tribute L2K on Saturday.

Looking forward to it ... don't really know why I jumped on it without having ever tried one.

Seemed to me almost all L2K videos I could find on YouTube sounded awful ... wonder why there are no decent quality vids with these instruments.

Hope I am not offending anyone I just found it strange. All other basses I have "researched" have had many fine vids on YouTube ... L2Ks not so popular? Do they really sound so metallic?

I guess I'll find out Saturday :-)

I think the best one is from a Mexican kid, IIRC. He plays really well and the tone is nice too.

holy hell, that kid is getting an incredible Jaco sound out of that. I'll have to see if I can get that:lol:

the thing I like most about the G&L is how well it sits, and the growl. I even bought it "based" on the Ed review (though I was concentrating on the fact that it was super versatile

And the SB2 is mine. Bought it with a heartbeat, Im so happy. Now I'm waiting for shipment to come. I already have L1000 translucent red with maple fingerboard form 1982, Wonder how it will compare with this white SB2 soundwise and quality.
Anybode has som experience with both?

I agree they are great sounding basses! I had one that I had to sell because the neck was like a rubber plant, if you played anything above the 5th fret the neck would bend and choke out!
I took the pickup out and made myself a P-1000. 20 fret P- Bass neck and a mahogany P bass body. One hell of a monster!
