Has it always been like this or has it just happened? Bridge pickups will generally have less body and volume than a pickup closer to the neck, it's perfectly natural. Adjust the pickup height to suit. Set the pickup height to balance their volume, rather than having them both the same distance from the string. On all my basses, I have the bridge pickup closer to the string than the neck pickup.

OK about three weeks on and I must say I truly love my LB100. I have never bonded with and enjoyed playing any P type bass as much as this. I haven't even changed strings or set up up yet and I love it.
I agree bro. Although I didn't like the stock strings that much. I think they are Daddario & no matter what bass I put those on I dont like em. GHS flats right now with a pick & its monsterous.
Now I'm considering picking up a L-2500 maple to be that aggressive bass in my arsenal. All my fivers are on the warmer side. I'd string them with Dean Markley Helix nickels with the exposed core through body to help the B string. I went to the store to try one out & they were all out tonight! Damn. I like how the neck pickup is more in the P position than the Sterling & Bongo HH so I can slap & tonally. I dont like the bass treble boost only but lately I haven't been touching EQ much on a gig which is why I'm willing to give the G&L another shot
I'm hoping to get a recommendation of strings for my SB2 Trib. Since they don't have any recommendations on the G&L web site I'm not sure what size strings to go with and if I can (or should) run flats on my Trib.
On the G&L, they're cut not boost. The MFD pickups have enough of both so you don't need to boost at all.
Yes sir I couldn't agree more. The M2000 I just picked up with a maple neck is the gig bag companion to my LB100. Very modern and aggressive. I too love the neck pup placement. The slap tones are fantastic on that bass!
I played that bass when Rocket had it. Whenever my fingers tried to get involved, my thumb would slap them out of the way. Fantastic slap tones indeed.
I tried the ASAT vs the LB-100 & I liked the LB-100 more although the ASAT has more tones overall, the LB-100 was plug & play awesome. The L-2500 would be unlike anything in my stable right now so I have my Big Al SSS up for trade. Dont play 4s right now so I only need the LB-100.
I lowered the action and it is much better now I promise. Still has factory strings on it which I am not a fan of either..... I cant wait to hear what it sounds like when I put a set of DR Sun Beams on it.
I have always been a fan of the L Series basses but I think the tamer/polite pre in the M's is more to my liking. And that is from someone who was fanatical about the L series basses.
If the Ms went series\parallel & active\passive I'd ABSOLUTELY grab a M.
BTW: Are the L-2500s string through now or is that an option?

I believe you can add coil taps to an M series.
I think you can order a new one that way via Rocket Music.
I'm not sure you can add passive mode, or, would want to, as the new pickups were "tamed" to mate with the preamp, and I'm not sure they'd sound great passive.
But, they might. Amybe someone's even done that already.

I NEED it to be string though but I've seen a recent M2500 that wasnt. I've gotta get the low down on that

My favorite strings for tightening up a B string are the Dean Markley Helix exposed core. They dont fit right through the bridge. I've played a few L-2500 with a miserable B so I'm gotta rely on those strings if it comes in that way
Got one, sounds awesome once i raised the D and G polepieces an RCH.
