I'm really loving this bass…
Took my Kiloton in to my bass tech, he adjusted the neck and bridge with the ghs balanced tension nickle set that was on there. It plays and sounds much better now, so I think I'm leaving them on for now.
They have just enough grind so you know they're not flats…..

Ain't great bass techs wonderful? Many years ago, I bought a used Ibanez P-bass copy. After playing it for a few weeks, I decided it had to be the worst playing bass ever built. The music store I bought it from recommended a tech. I took it to him and POW, when I got it back, it was amazing! If it hadn't weighed 10 lbs., I'd still be playing it. And even though that tech lives 350 miles away from me now, I still sometimes use him. He's a miracle worker. Congrats on the sweet sounding Kiloton.

The ruby red metallic / white / maple combination reminds me of an early 80s Ibanez like a Blazer or Roadstar

This guy is the best! Kurt Orton of Fire River Music in Grants Pass, Oregon. He's looked after all my basses for the last 3 years, really knows his stuff. And he's just a wonderful human being, to boot.
Edit:he's one of the first guitar guys I've taken my Rickenbackers to that didn't
fuss about them or miss a beat in setting them up. He's always done the setups while I waited, too. I'm always happy to make the 180 mile roundtrip drive to have him work on my basses!

So I googled "LB-100" and "760FM" and Google gave me this old post from some guy I think I might of heard of before.....
I'm not surprised to hear of the various sets of Deep Talkin Flats sounding great on an LB-100, but I'm wondering if they suit other G&L models - anyone tried them? There's a couple of YouTube demos of them on Fallouts, sounding very convincing.

I'm not surprised to hear of the various sets of Deep Talkin Flats sounding great on an LB-100, but I'm wondering if they suit other G&L models - anyone tried them? There's a couple of YouTube demos of them on Fallouts, sounding very convincing.
I've gotta stop following this thread. I already have an LB-100 on order through rocketmusic but now I want to order more!
It arrived yesterday, unboxed and tested.
Will give it a workout tonight at practice.
The d'addarios don't float my boat. Have GHS balanced nickles heavier guage on order.
First impressions, nut needs to be cut lower, action will need to be lowered, (nothing surprising) will let it acclimate to my arid climate, and make adjustments when strings arrive.
CAR and pearl pickguard look fantastic.
LIGHT (8lbs 2oz) tuners smooth action.
Fit and finish very good.
Plays good. Will be better after massaged.
Fret ends finished nicely. Neck finish is a bit coarse for my tastes, will smooth with 2000 grit . Likely replace plastic nut with TUSQ.
Relief was set well. Lowered the saddles. Much better.
Sound: huge fat and growls.
All 3 positions of switch are different flavors of awesome. The OMG is different than my L2500, or previous Lseries I've had, a bit brighter (lower value cap?)
Tone control sweep is smooth and volume curve also good.
Overall: fun little bass with a huge sound ,very much G&L.

I've since dropped back to the 760-FL set. My ears love the FM set, but my hands eventually didn't. Pain and eventually numbness while playing freaked me out for a while. I'm pretty sure it's carpal tunnel or tendonitis of some sort. Anyway, massage and lighter strings have helped alleviate that. Phew!!!
