Upgrade my Flats?
Have the DR FL45 flats, 45-105, on my SB1.
Considering upgrading to Link Removed, AKA Original Vintage 1954s, 52-110.
Anyone use the LaBella Flats on their G&L? Please post your opinion.

I've got the La Bella 760FM set (.049-.109) on my LB-100, and I love them. I've worked my way up through the 760XX gauges over time, and every step up has made me smile even more. The tension gets a little higher as the strings get thicker, but the sound! I love the balance you get across all the strings with the FM set, they all sound huge. The 760M set will be my next experiment.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe the 760M strings may be constructed differently from the rest of the 760 series. So I'm not sure if the sound and feel will me more of a change than say going from the 760FS to the 760FM...

It's an '82. One of my all time favorite basses.

It's the photo. The blue Toro is a little close to the camera. It looks odd, but it's the same scale length as the L2k.

Not sure it's possible with the stock wiring. All 4 coils in the 2 pickups on an El Toro (or Interceptor) are put into series by the bass boost switch, that's why the pickup selector doesn't work in bass boost mode. If you added K switching you'd need to repurpose a switch at the least.

Interesting idea, though - I wonder how those pickups would sound in single coil.

These posts got me curious, so I pulled the neck pickup on my El Toro. Here are some pics. Short answer- a K mod (or similar) is possible, but not without modifying the pickup. The two coils are wired together inside the shell. Nothing is impossible; it just depends how much surgery you want to do. You could clip the yellow wire and extend it into the control cavity from both coils if you wanted to add some coil switching capability.

I've got one on the way that you can't even build on the Generator. SB-2 in clear blue over spalted maple with block inlays, vintage satin maple, 1-ply black pg. This is as close as I could get (flipped in MS Paint):

I've never ordered a new bass before, except for a discounted B-stock Asian knockoff, so this is kind of a big deal for me. I refresh G&L's Instagram page several times a day.
