They do have some lovely options....This is what I did starting early in the summer when block inlays became a thing. It became one of my daily stops and helped me settle on the clear blue finish.
A month or two later, a guitar with a spalted maple showed up and it had never even occurred to me that they did that. So that became my order. I lucked out with the timing as G&L went wood buying the week after I made my inquiry; so someday, if the fates allow, clear blue spalted maple amazingness.
I'm hoping for something like this plus this:

How do you place an order for one?
No, i meant in general how do i place a custom order with g&l.
You can order a custom G&L from Greg at Rocket Music. He has a forum here under Sponsored Forums. I have ordered 3 custom G&Ls from him - he is great to deal with![]()

Careful, they're addicting. I have my fourth on order, which means that G&Ls will be half of all the electric basses I've ever owned, and 3/4 of the electric basses I still have.If anyone is looking for a killer deal on an L1000, Greg at Rocket Music has a killer deal on one right now.
Insane Special Of The Week
I'm seriously considering picking up the new black Kiloton 5 he's got in stock. It'd be my first G&L (played a few L2500's over the years, never owned one). I'm really liking the clips I've heard of the Kiloton, so I may just jump on it.
You talking about the excessive string-on-fret noise that's accentuated by heavy picking, bad fretting technique, new strings and cranked treble?
My L2000s sound nothing like that.
Mmmm..... honey baked ham.I've got two L2000s, two gen 1 SB-2s, and an El Toro. I set them up myself with very low action and I get none of that rattlety-clack business. I play like my fists are a pair of Honey Baked Hams, so it's certainly not due to my light touch.
So much buzzing! Im hearing this in a lot of l2000 vids. Whats the deal with this? Sounds like a $200 bass. Im a little worried bc im getting ready to order one of these. Lol
