L-1005 is not a stock model. A small batch of L-1005s and L-1000s was made by a special arrangement between RocketMusic and G&L. It's not guaranteed that they will ever do it again.
Oh sorry, misunderstood you. I guess you do it all through a dealer. Not sure that all of them can do custom orders, so just inquire. Been a while since I did that, and the dealer doesn't exist anymore.

I'm seriously considering picking up the new black Kiloton 5 he's got in stock. It'd be my first G&L (played a few L2500's over the years, never owned one). I'm really liking the clips I've heard of the Kiloton, so I may just jump on it.

Careful, they're addicting. I have my fourth on order, which means that G&Ls will be half of all the electric basses I've ever owned, and 3/4 of the electric basses I still have.
So much buzzing! Im hearing this in a lot of l2000 vids. Whats the deal with this? Sounds like a $200 bass. Im a little worried bc im getting ready to order one of these. Lol

You talking about the excessive string-on-fret noise that's accentuated by heavy picking, bad fretting technique, new strings and cranked treble?

Yeah but now listen to this guy once he finally starts playing. Light finger plucker, still tons of crappy sounding buzz going on.
I agree. I have an lowly L2k tribute and I don't have any of that happening. I've learned to do my own setups, and I'm no pro or anything, but I just set everything to Fender specs with a feeler gauge and a machinist's ruler, and I have no trouble. If I got that buzzing after setting up to those specs, I would take it to my luthier/tech. But I've never had to do that, because even my '87 SB-1 that was worn through an opaque finish down to the wood and only had about a millimeter and a half of fret left when I got it never buzzed like that.

I've got two L2000s, two gen 1 SB-2s, and an El Toro. I set them up myself with very low action and I get none of that rattlety-clack business. I play like my fists are a pair of Honey Baked Hams, so it's certainly not due to my light touch.
