Why even have pots in the circuit pull em and plug the holes OR leave them and disconnect them and wire pickups directly to the output jack. They are needlessly loading the pickups
I've doubled-checked that a 2020 Fullerton Deluxe in Old School TSB will be alder (in 2022 they're pine)
and now I've searched @RocketMusic's archive I believe I've concluded that 8 lb 3 oz is *very* light for an alder LB-100. Lucky me

It was bugging me that this 2020 LB-100 I just ordered was supposedly only 8 lbs 3 — I couldn't find any record of an alder LB-100 being anywhere near that light.
Eventually I looked at the advert again, it reads 8lb 3oz / 3.9kg .... and 3.9kg is 8lb 9½oz. Ahhhh....
Having a think whether to cancel the order or not. Perhaps I should just give this a go, and accept that it's not a long term solution. I'm not sure where my shoulder draws the line.
If I find that I love the LB-100 + La Bella combination, but need something lighter in the long term, I can place an order for one made of Empress, and enjoy this until that arrives. One in Pearl White with a gold pg....

I don't think you will notice much difference in 6oz. A good 3" strap will make a 8lb 9oz bass very comfortable!
I know that your advice is kindly meant, but psoriaritic arthritis plus a work injury that didn't heal well means that I'm capable of noticing anything.
How the bass hangs makes a difference, the direction the weight pulls on the shoulder. My SB-1 isn't perfect, but is so light it's fine. My Squier P is over 9lbs, but hangs beautifully. My BB was intolerable. We'll see.
My alder LB-100 is 9.0 and hangs great. Very well balanced. Hope your's is the same!

All the basses I've kept in my collection are partly because I loved them for their lighter than average weights. (And it's taken me a while to find a lightweight Rickenbacker!)

And, with that sorted out mentally, I hope me and flats finally work out too!(1. Chromes on a TRBX, the woody tinge fought the bass's character; 2. La Bellas on my SB-1, sounded great but were just very wrong for what bought that bass to play; 3. Roto monels on my Squier P, interesting experiment, but nahhh)
Since I'm now happy with my two basses strung with rounds, I'll be OK with letting this combination of alnico P pickup + La Bellas dicate the style — I want it to stretch me, broaden me. And surely the Old School Tobacco Sunburst and Tort will help me find the right path?
If it doesn't work out, if I learn that me and flats just can't ever get it on, then the loss I'll make on this Fullerton Deluxe will have been money well spent.
But if I decide that this is a combination I want forever, then I'll be back in the Build To Order queue
(where the loss I'll make moving this Deluxe on will seem like nothing.... )

you can't go wrong with that color/PG combo. It's my favorite!

Thank you! I really love the lack of pickguards and control plates on both my GL's.
The alnico pickups on both, as well.
I think a pickguardless Empress Kiloton would be my ultimate GL design….I really love that smaller body.

I personally Like tone control and on my New LB-100 the tone control is minimal having a .022uf tone cap normally used for guitars. It just takes the edge off some strings by turning down no more than 1/2 unlike .047uf normally used in a bass. I just Thought it was useless having them if one never uses them. If I do use it I only roll off some. I do Not care for passive tone control more than just small amounts and the .022uf is more useful that .047uf in being able to dial to knock the edge offIt's too much hassle. Plus, in the unlikely event I want to use the tone, at least it's here. I'd rather not remove something that is not bothering me.
In classic Talkbass fashion though, my initial question got ignored and went a complete different direction

I just saw this on their Facebook feed too, where it mentions that it's headed to Greg. I wondering if that means we know who's ordered it.... Empress JB, CS, split pickups.... is this Brad, again? If so, congratulations once again!
