G&L Club Part 7

I just took my LB-100 round to my tech to have the Fralin pickup replace the Dimarzio, and also to get the setup looked at since I swapped the Pro Steels for 45-105 Chromes. All I did was tweak the truss rod until it stopped buzzing on the first fret, so I knew it wasn't going to be looking too proper.

Apparently, I've actually got a backbow, and the action is at about 1.5mm (0.059") for all 4 strings. After we had finished laughing, he agreed that – keeping my very light touch in mind – it was indeed, miraculously, playing nicely and cleanly, so why meddle with it? :ninja:

Also what would be an normal price for this type of bass? The condition is oretty good, frets are looking good too.

Thanks!

I've always liked Black basses, being as I grew up liking melodic metal and hard rock, but the Andromeda is a step better than all black, in my humble opine. It looks better in person than most photos, you have to get the angle and light just right to show the sparkle.
There's another brother bass almost the same out in the wild, pic at bottom but with maple neck instead of ebony. Killer !

Looking for string suggestions for my Kiloton. I put on a set of Rotosound Nickel wounds and they didn't work out (Literally - broke 2 strings already after they stretched and didn't stay in tune). I realize everyone has their own favorites, but I am not looking for flats, only round wound suggestions. Since the Kilo is a very aggressive sounding bass to begin with, not looking for strings that are overly aggressive. Thoughts?

Thanks.

I've had good luck with Elixirs on mine, either 45-100 or 45-105...I'm not that picky between those gauges. Unfortunately, I don't have them on mine now, but I plan to go back to them soon.

I'm a fan of GHS Boomers.
Much mellower than the D'addario XLs that come stock, but still carry enough "bite" for my liking.

I love me some D'Adarrio XL nickel 45-105s on my Kilo.

Stunning to look at. Like it! Like looking into the universe of stars and planets and the mind just gets absorbed into it and hard to look away.
