I've been considering letting mine go, it doesn't get much love since I got my SB-2.
But I think the postage from Australia would make it too expensive to get out to Texas.

hey guys, I'm going to be in possession of an 80s SB-2 (the double single coil and selector switch version) soon. any of you guys rocking one or many here? I picked the bass off the rack to check out an Ashen amp the shop had, and while I was testing amp which I was really diggin, I also just realized how rocking that bass felt, I had never seen a G&L like it and loved the different tones that I could get playing around with the selector switch and the tones. I left the shop thinking almost more about that bass than I did the amp.
I ended up ordering the amp from Ashen themselves, they had a demo for pretty cheap. but I went back to the shop to check out some cabs that they had gotten, I plugged the same Ashen amp to the cabs and was glad to see the bass was still there, and man it was killer. I ended up buying the cabs and told the shop i wanted to put the bass on Layaway with a bit down, they gave me a nice final price and I left it on layaway. Just sold my HX stomp so it'll be time to pick up the bass soon. The guys at the shop (Atomic Music), said the bass had belonged to a Charles or "Chuck". curious as to whether he's on TB.

@RocketMusic did G&L add back matching headstocks and block inlays for BTO? They just released their new website and it has all those BTO options listed

The matching / black / gloss headstock options never went away, so they are still an option. The blocks are Custom Shop only as far as I can tell (based on their most recent BTO order sheet). That said, it's NAMM week so anything and everything that could change any minute now.
FWIW - there has been a bit of a regime change happening at G&L over the past couple months. My former sales guy is gone, and Steve Araujo is filling those shoes. They also lost their former Custom Shop guy, but James Gay has come on board to handle those duties. They're both in the honeymoon period, eager to get organized and start making things happen. I think the re-emergence of the nut width and radius options is a direct consequence of all that. And I wouldn't be surprised if more things change as these guys get more and more familiar with all the ins and outs.
James seems very well organized, and he's having an impact not just in the Custom Shop but also with the BTO production. I'm kinda excited about this turn of events, especially once we get past the small backlog of outstanding orders and repairs that I have in their queue.

Here's hoping Steve Araujo's work with you will be less confusing than his bass playing.

That should be fittingly confusing. Hopefully, over time they'll get these snafus cleaned up. But then again...
im glad im not the only one! Everytime I watch one of his videos, I have to make sure im not having a stroke.

dude's got chops, but have you ever watched one of his demo videos? He overplays.
Yeah, Steve overplays in his demos, as do a lot of people. Demos are a funny thing… most people that buy a bass are probably more likely to play a boring quarter note groove with it than a fancy slapping note fest, but a demo of just bum-bum-bum-bum on a couple of strings would likely make most people tune out. So then a lot of people with chops tend to overplay to keep peoples attention and make the algorithms happy. But it never shows me what a bass would sound like if I were to play it…
Actually that's my biggest complaint about everybody's demo videos. I tune them in hoping to learn about a bass's tone and here's a person trying to outplay Jaco. That's why I like Lowend Lobster. He actually played stuff that showcased the bass. Hurry back, Lobster. I hope all is well with you. We miss you.
His straight up demo videos are pretty busy, but the "Live at Leo's" demos are always pretty good and tasteful. If you want to hear how the various G&Ls sound in a real band context, listen to some of their various full-band songs.

He's demoing the instrument, not his playing. He has a short period of time to show how it sounds up and down the neck, showing what the electronics do, sometimes in a band setting. He's definitely not auditioning for anything. Just my take.
