The sample colors coming through the G&L store have been solid. Hopefully they end up offering some of them. This one and the red sparkle burst ASAT they had a few months ago look great.

I'm finding that the bass knob on my L-2500 cuts a lot of volume in passive mode if I have it rolled down. Does anyone else notice this? It's almost to the point where it's unusable because how much volume difference there is.
Have any of you JB players swapped out the pickups? I'm looking at the Seymour Duncan Apollo Humbuckers.
It sounds like this post has the same issue with the bass knob and that it's expected.

I like your style, but we don't normally do First Friday in this thread.
Not to say that you can't be a trend setter for a fun new tradition for the G&L club.

Never heard of a "First Friday" tradition. What is it?
On the first Friday of every month, post picture(s) of your G&L(s) and anything related, such as a pic of you playing your G&L on stage. When everyone pitches in you get to see a lot of cool stuff.
Sounds like a good idea. I own six G&L basses, two USAs and four Tributes. Here's a pic of a simple favorite of mine, my Tribute LB-100. It's really nostalgic for me because the bass I played the longest in my life was a 1970 Fender P-bass, white with a black pickguard. I've modded this LB-100 by dropping in a Seymour Duncan 2-band active EQ (no affiliation), then about a year later, an MFD split coil. Then I strung it up with a set of Rotosound Nexus strings (again, no affiliation), making it the finest sounding bass I've ever heard (IMO, which I know matters only to me, but then again, I'm the one playing it).
I am going to go with G&L related content.
I have collected a pile of G&L books (Bechtoldt and Fullerton), catalogs, price lists, brochures, service manuals, and other random merch (polish, keychain, poster, dealer banners) over the past 25 years. One of my weirder items is a company newsletter.

Yep. I liked the stock pickups, but I switched to DiMarzio Area J to go noiseless. They sounded pretty close to the stock pickups, but without any single coil hum, and they had better string-to-string balance thanks to the raised poles under the A and D strings.
A few years later, I switched to Lace Man o' War in the JB, and they're fantastic IMO. They sound a little thicker than traditional J-bass pickups, with slightly less treble. In a band mix, they bring the JB closer to P-bass territory, which is cool and makes them extremely versatile. Plus, they're true single coils, so they have all the snap and bark, and they're great at high volume--with nearly zero noise thanks to Lace's Sensor technology.
But if you want a punchy, noiseless version of traditional tone and are willing to spend the $$, Lindy Fralin's Split-Jazz are amazing. I've had a set in my Fender J since 2005, and they've always delivered for gigs and recording. Mine have raised poles under the A and D strings, and thus have perfect string-to-string balance. I agonized over the cost before buying them, but they've been worth every penny IMO.
I've read nothing but great things about the Duncans, but I've never heard them so I don't know how they compare to the Fralins. They're probably pretty close.
