I took delivery of my BTO SB1 last week. Ordered from Greg at Rocket Music. Such a great experience from initial inquiries through delivery.

Anyway here it is. The Pearl White and matching headstock doesn't translate well in the pic, but it's flawless and absolutely gorgeous. It played amazing right out of the box so only minor tweaks were required to make it perfect. Loving it!

That's an almost unbelievable score. You'd have to think it'd be worth a bunch more than that.

NBD! My L2K arrived yesterday and it was set up well enough for me to use "as is" at rehearsal last night. It's a beauty, IMHO. Neck feels great (Slim C, 1.5" nut width). Weight is good, feels lighter than my JB or Kiloton, but I'm told it weighs just about the same. Will have to check myself. Picked it up off of Reverb from a seller in Japan. This one met just about every check box I had for my L2K and the price was right.

EDIT! It's got the K-Mod from the factory! I thought I felt that last night as I was playing around with that last night. It is listed on the build sheet.

Got mine all cleaned up, restrung, and set up yesterday. Sounds awesome: I particularly love how many different sounds you can get out of this thing!

Battery was taken out of mine for shipping from Japan. I'll put one in to see if I like the active tones, but this is definitely a very versatile bass even in passive mode.

That is awesome! I didn't know you could get a slim C with a 1.5 nut width. What color is that? I was going to guess shoreline gold.

Pics don't show the color well. It's Graphite Metallic. This is a USA-built Japan Custom model, per the build sheet. Built in 2013.

And a correction - it is a #8 Modern Narrow C neck, not a Slim C.

I like a #8 neck, both my G&LS have that one. Great score for you! What's the condition of the truss rod?

I'll have it checked when I get it setup. Neck seems nice and straight and the action is very close to my liking, so I'm not too concerned.

I play my Tribute L2500 in active all the time. It makes a subtle difference, kinda like that letter "b" in the word "subtle." There just seems to be a hint more sparkle that I like in the tone, so I think of the passive setting as a "use in case of emergency" switch. I wired a pair of push / pull switches into the volume and treble pots, so I can run either one or both pickups in single coil mode if I want to. It's a great setup. I really like the neck pickup on humbucker and the bridge pickup in single coil. Like you, I am amazed at all the sounds I can get out of my L-2500.

The L-2000 active mode to me is most useful in those situations where you're just handed a cheap passive DI and told to "plug in" - no amp, pedals or anything, just straight to PA. (Happens in churches a lot.). Really livens up the signal, give you a nice clean powerful tone.

I've yet to find any practical use for the treble boost though…
