That's an excellent idea. I find that G&Ls are excellent platforms for mods. I have five G&L basses in my collection--two USAs and three Tributes. All of them except my 2018 USA Kiloton have been modded in some way or another. Your setup makes it possible to not only move pickups around but to easily try other pickups in addition to or in place of the MFD humbuckers--maybe one of those single coil MFDs that are the bridge pickup in an SB-2. I've always wanted to try that pickup in other positions. I was going to add it to my Tribute Kiloton as a neck pickup (or mid pickup if you prefer that terminology). However, I was talked out of it. Memo at G&L tells me it's manufactured exactly like the pickups on the original SB-2, which had two of them and no split coil. They were also used on a now-discontinued G&L bass. I forget which one...maybe the Lynx??? Could they work on an L-2000 to turn it into a hot-rodded MFD Jazz Bass with an awesome preamp? Or maybe drop three of them in there and really go wild. (These aren't suggestions. They're just signs that I've had too much coffee this morning.)
Awesome! I've been wanting to see an "M-1500" for years now. I was always a little surprised that G&L didn't entertain the idea of an M pickup and active preamp in that position.
I agree that configuration would be great, because I like the minimalism of a single pickup, and the three-band EQ would make that configuration much more versatile IMO. But G&L might think it wouldn't add much tone-wise. I used to have an L-1500 and I now have an M-2500, and with the M's pickup blend and EQ, it can get pretty close to the L-1500's tone. I don't use that tone much, but every so often it's perfect.

If it is new enough (post 2011; yours seems to be), then you can order a replacement spec sheet. They may even tell you specs without buying the sheet if you email them. I would probably just buy the sheet to have complete info with the bass. I do not think it adds value to the bass, but I prefer having the spec sheets.

Thanks, I would like to have it without the single coil option. How would I go about that?
OMG mode is just series with a capacitor added to one of the coils in the humbucker (cap rolls treble off from that set of coils). Add a cap to series mode in this diagram to get a two position OMG/Parallel....
