Sure. Just pointing out that the bridge comes with two screws and they ain't there. Probably because someone top loaded, the bridge ripped clean off the body, and now the screws won't stay.

Oh, I didn't think of that. And that would be a problem for me 'cause I prefer to top load.

I have the bones from a JB and I'm thinking of use a generic Jazz body, but I would need to route the groove for the "bridge flange"...
I can't be the first person to consider this, what is the recommended method of measuring/placing the groove in the proper place?

Thread 'New floating bridge for G&L L-2500?'

Having recently decided to switch from roundwound to tapewound strings on my L-2500, last Saturday I picked up a set and sat down to make the switch. While replacing the low B string, I found that the string didn't fit its corresponding through-body ferrule because it was too thick. Well, I said, my other G&L's aren't through-body and they have the exact same bridge and mounting, so I'll just string the low B through the bridge. I did so and performed a full setup and intonation. I loved the sound of these strings on this bass! Sunday afternoon, I practiced with it for an hour or so...

If I wanted the used M-2000 with missing screws on the old style bridge, I'd be tempted to make a deal on the bass and order a new replacement bridge from G&L with the additional attachment holes and install the new one in place of the current one

So no, it doesn't happen a lot. This is only one instance, but I've seen evidence of it elsewhere. Obviously if you string through body, you'll never encounter the issue, but if you top load you might, who knows. It depends on the wood. The fix is to put some threaded inserts through the ferrules. New ones haven't had through body stringing for some years.

My regretly now-sold 2012 Fullerton M-2500.
Showing there are only two tiny wood screws holding the bridge, and most of the tension is actually supported by both the through-body strings and the lug.

Yes, only those, like my JB-5, my 1997 L-2500 Custom, my Kiloton-5 (and my Tribute M-2500).

Are those the only two models you're interested in? I've got no personal experience of the JB-5 nor the Kiloton, but the L-1505 I own is 17mm.

As @Chris Chong said, 17.5mm like a StingRay 5. I'll add that the JB-5's neck has a wonderful rear profile IMO. I had one for awhile, and I found it incredibly comfortable. Unfortunately, I just don't like 9.5" radius fretboards, especially on fives, so it didn't last long.

A JB and a Kiloton are completely different animals tonally so it would be difficult to compare them that way.

The body styles are also quite different however both sport 1.5" nut widths and similar profile necks. While the JB will sound like most any other JB with Alnico pickups one with MFD pickups will have a different flavor to it. With the Kilo you'll have single MFD pickup powerfully wound and very mid forward tonally.

IMHO they're different enough that I would suggest playing each of them first before deciding.
