G&L Club Part 7

I have a 1990 SB1 and it looks a lot like a LB100. Can some tell me the difference? I've been playing G&Lsince 1986 counting the 3 G&L s I have now I've had 6 but can't tell the difference between your lb and my about
Thanks

Your SB-1 has the G&L MFD split-coil pickup in it. The LB-100 has a standard alnico pickup and is more "vintage" sounding. LB stands for Legacy Bass but they had to stop using that name because Zon trademarked it.

I really like the slim ASAT headstock. Would be nice if G&L made that an option on all of their 4-strings.

Yes, though it was just an issue with defective case latches on a L2500 I picked up recently.

The warranty service basically seems to be one guy, so keep in mind it might take a day or two for him to get back to you.

Once I did manage to talk to Chris, he took care of everything, and it went smoothly.

New necks warping isn't especially unusual, so I'm sure that they'll be able to take care of things. Sadly, you'll likely have to wait while they make a new neck for you. :(

Yeah it took a few days but he sent me a call tag. They'll have it next Friday. I'm expecting they're off from Xmas to new years so I'm expecting a delay then, a week for them to get it, another to diagnose and at least 2 to make a new neck. My neck isn't off the rack so it's going to take longer.

Nice. A classic for sure. Maybe the best looking 1K I've seen.

I notice your slot poles are all askew. Have you fiddled with their alignment at all? I did on mine, but to be honest I didn't perceive any tonal difference in either direction.

Thanks man. I have fiddled with the slot poles but agree, there wasn't much difference in tone due to the direction. That said, since that pic was taken I have aligned the slots with the strings just for looks:D

Regarding the differences between the SB-1 and the LB-100 basses, the bodies seem to be different. The LB-100 being shaped like the traditional Precision body style, while the SB-1 has an updated slimmer body to go with the pickup update.

Maybe someone with both models will clarify.

Hi Folks!
I got a question regarding frets. I'm refreting my L2000 81', and my luthier has Schaller fret wire. is it possible that earley G&L used Schaller wire also? We know that the tuners were Schaller so maybe frets as well?

Anybody?

Afternoon guys, it's great seeing all the beautiful G&L's here! I thought I'd share a photo and link of the Savannah ASAT I've for sale. I wound up with two of these and am selling the second one. I couldn't be happier with this bass. Bar none, it is the most gorgeous and best sounding bass I've ever played. Hopefully this one can find a good home and get the playing it deserves... Cheers.

Missing my former JB-2's, I couldn't resist this seller's offering. My offer was accepted, which kinda surprised me.

He has no description whatsoever about it, but the pics kinda look like Butterscotch body, neck binding, with high gloss neck finish. Can't tell if it's gun tinted or not. Guess I'll find out when it arrives..

Anyone care to hazard a guess on the finishes?
