WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!! Just picked up a 1984 El Toro!! Used to have a 1987 Blue El Toro fretless, and finally found one identical except this one is fretted. Will post a few pics after it arrives!!

Congrats! El Toro's are great. I have an 84 trans red El Toro.

It has been so long since I sold mine, I am drawing a complete blank on all of the configurations that exist with the toggles, etc. Any suggestions on where I can track that info down?

Yep, sounds great with the ash body and ebony board.

I don't think there's a cure for G&L-itis! The Belair is the lightest L-2000 I've ever had, 8.1 lbs. Yes, it's clear red - one of my fave G&L finishes.

Wow 8.1 is amazing. Any of those have the K switching option? I have it on my lone 2K, love it.

Last night I rocked my 30th Anniversary L2k through a Fender Rumble 350 and two RS210 cabs and it was bass heaven. Everything we played had great bass in it and I kept it in single coil mode, passive, both pups. The K switch really smokes it.

i've been wanting an SB-2 for a long time (mainly as an upgraded version of my '99 fender hot-rod precision) and when this thread popped up, i jumped on it. now all i've gotta do is wait.

Very cool thread, Greg is just amazing. He's my fave G&L dealer now. That thread has me thinking about an El Toro limited run.

Wow 8.1 is amazing. Any of those have the K switching option? I have it on my lone 2K, love it.

That pic is just my current fave L-2000s. I also have two recent L-2000Ks with the single coil switching as well, so I haven't done the mod to any old basses yet. I do have two of the K switches sitting in a drawer for whenever I feel like tackling the spaghetti in the control cavity!

never played an El Toro before, but they look pretty cool. i seem to remember someone using one of the pickups to replace the bridge pickup in an SB-2. they said the output was more closely match and it sounded huge.

I won an auction last week on a L2000E with the lawsuit headstock! Just waiting to get it in to post pictures. The holidays are killing my shipping time. The auction didn't have an exact year, but the bass has a skunk stripe neck, so that seems to put it between 1980-1982. Can't wait!

So I've recently done the k-mod and the OMG mod to my L-2000 Tribute. I was a little disappointed by the OMG mod, I've got it wired to a push/pull pot. And I find the sound difference quite subtle. Has anyone else found this?
