I think as wise consumers and G&L fans, we can all agree on this.... If you want some dream instrument from G&L... build it sooner than later... otherwise, you risk a life of regret.

I assume that you've already called a dealer and G&L regarding what you want... and that you're here trying to get clarification that you couldn't get from them.
If that's not the case, you should really be doing those two things first. Every day that you wait is a day closer to the extinction of what you're looking to build.
If they did intend to remove the M2500, this is most likely an oversight in editing references to it elsewhere on the site.

G&L does do "production run" instruments for the likes of Musicians Friend and whatnot. You can order a US-made instrument from them, but don't have the options you'd get from a smaller dealer.
A true "custom shop" would be awesome for those that want it. I'd just be happy with their typical menu of options.

I already have a USA L2500 and an M2500. The L is from around 2004, the M is a 2015 I think. I was just curious, that's it.

Yes I realized that I forgot to add that later... I love purple, so the GC L2000 is doable, but I'd prefer it in metal flake green...
As for the Kiloton... the GC color is too bland for my tastes, and if I'm going to spend $1500 for it, I might as well spend a little more and get my neck, my frets, my pick guard, my color, and my fingerboard!

Good to know... I'm still waiting for the verdict on the G&L generator. I need it!
And for the record, I hope they bring back black wrinkle finish as a hardware option! Blacked out G&L's look wicked!
Ditto. My '90s SB-1 has the black bridge and pick guard. It's bad ass.
My bass that's being built now is flake red, w/ matching stock, ebony board, and black guard... if I could get black hardware, it would make Darth Vader look like Jar Jar Binks
Would be great it they offered hardware in Nickel, Black, or Gold. I'm a fan of those options.
TBH I wouldn't trust the website - it seems like a bit of an afterthought although they are working on updating it. IIRC greg@rocketmusic mentioned that spanish copper metallic is off the price list although it's on the website.
Looking it over I see no Tribute M-series (can't say whether they are discontinued or just not on the website yet) and a new Tribute JB that I don't think I've ever seen anywhere else before (that would be cool for folks that like the traditional offset jazz body). The US M-2500 seems to be MIA as discussed, but it's still on the pricelist from the G&L prices that were updated earlier this year in the Rocketmusic forum. And I can't keep track of all the colors but the new Rally Red and Galaxy Black aren't on the website.
Neck-wise some few years back they went away from the traditional numbered necks and the orderer can specify nut width (1-1/2, 1-5/8, 1-3/4) and radius (7.5, 9.5, 12) for a non-JB 4-string neck and get any one of those 9 combinations (probably why they retired the #5, #6, #7, #8, . . . that us oldsters were used to). I don't remember what they did with 5-string necks as I don't get along with those.
When in doubt talk to your G&L dealer who can clarify with G&L (greg@rocketmusic is mine)

I have an L-2500 and was thinking how great it would be if I could adjust the mix of my neck and bridge pick up like I can on my P/J style basses. I don't want to just have the pup selector switch which only allows neck/ both/ bridge. I want to have the added bonus of, when using both pups, to be able to control the blend more precisely. This would enable me to, for example:
What I'm considering is splitting the volume from a single pot to a 'stacked' or inner knob/ outer ring style pot (the real name is escaping my addled brain right now,
) so I can (for example) have the outer ring control the bridge pup volume and the inner knob control the neck pup volume. I'm trying to avoid drilling & mounting a 4th pot.
Has anyone done anything like this on their own? I'm no electronics whiz but I can do simple wiring, soldering, etc. I'm just not well versed at designing/ understanding the electrical requirements/ implications of things yet. I don't think this particular modification is crazy or out of left field ... but I'd rather solicit the help of my respected TB family and not try to experiment on my baby
