Regarding the kiloton: does anybody have it and an L2000 too? I assume that you could get a kiloton like sound on the L2000 just choosing the bridge pickup, passive mode. Am I missing something?
Yup, the L-1500/1505 basses have been discontinued in favor of the Kilotons. As noted by @dedpool1052,
Quite apart from that, there's the split pickup mode. I'm not sure which coil is active there. [*AND* I just noticed the L1500 is gone from the website. Is that news or was I sleeping?] Back on subject, my L1000 has its pickup just where the neck pickup is on the L2000, but its also passive with a single coil mode (neck-side coil) and a series mode with a capacitor on one coil for a big bass bump. Quite a different rig in practice than just putting my L2K in passive and on the neck pickup.
Y'know, it's funny.Hi Brent...
I really like the aggressive nature of the L series. When Steve started working with them I got the call "Hey Man do you know what was under our noses for all these years...lol" They are cool that is for sure.

The front coil is used in SCM of the Kiloton.
For the Wunkays, they've used both coils for SCM.
My '81 uses the rear coil while my '14 uses the front.
You guys have no idea how scared I was to search the first three parts of that video on a work PC.When I watched the 2 dudes 1 bass video,

That would've been a bad time for me to have a typo....especially if you missed the 'b' in 'bass'
I keep telling myself I don't need a Kiloton 5 and that my current G&L's are capable of getting me those tones and then I watch the video again of Steve playing it an I'm like, I must have that bass.
While I'm at it. Let me post my latest photo grid creation of my current heard.

Dude you are amassing quite a collection! So much awesomeness in one place![]()
You nailed it...There is a similarity going on when I hear a L series with Ebony (I'm in the wood matters camp) The bass in the video was set up flat to boot, noting boosted or cut just its natural voice.Y'know, it's funny.
When I watched the 2 dudes 1 bass video,
I thought that your TP5 w/Nordstrand big singles wired in series (in your hands) sounded like an L-series bass (in my hands).
So to me, it's not too far fetched that you dig the overall vibe and tone of the L-series basses.

Thanks Greg for all the great pictures lol. I don't even have to take pics of the basses I buy from Greg. He provides you with plenty of photo goodies too.
There's a L1005 in the classifieds....no affiliation. Less than 10 made...Armybass, how are you liking the Blueburst L1000? (I was eyeing it and missed it both times!)
