My experience with the Tribs vs. USA feel has been that there is very little noticeable difference at all... at first. It's the small things like fit and finish or the expected sensitivity/ behavior of the controls. Nothing bad, nothing show stopping. Just subtle differences. But any difference in the neck and body are otherwise indiscernible.

ooops! I missed that tidbit... good catch BoninThe #12 was 1 5/8" at the nut while the tribby is 1 3/4" with a 12" radius. You might want to try paying one first. It's a very nice neck, but definitely more substantial than the #12

For what it's worth, I ordered my SB-2 with a 1 5/8" nut and 12" radius. (I don't care for a 1 1/2" nut, which nearly every used lefty SB-2 has.) If I had the option of buying a used or tribute SB-2 with a 1 3/4" neck, I wouldn't have bothered ordering a brand new one and paying the premium.
So for me the difference between 1 1/2" and 1 5/8" was worth a $1,000 premium. The difference between 1 5/8" and 1 3/4" is not.
I own an L2000 tribute with the 1 3/4" neck and loved it enough to have it refinished just for fun.
Edit: basically what I'm getting at is that necks are highly subjective, so I'm providing the facts with just a sprinkling of my own opinion for context

Lol... Now this is humor in its most natural and impromptu fashion... So if I understand, we are expected to take our G&Ls seriously and discuss only engineering, electronics, and how to matters and any extra-curricular fun is frowned upon. I would submit there are some people always on the lookout for a way to be unhappy. <they should buy a Gibson>

That is true. When I posted that, I'd not even seen the warning, and I'm sure the mods know that were an innocent bunch... Anyway, other than myself, I've never seen anyone disrespected here, especially a new-comer. So yes, apologies to anyone who was taken back by our over caffeinated antics.

To be fair, we did stop the silliness and seriously answer the question. And I even learned about the nut difference between the US and Trib versions.
I've been eyeing that one with the missing pickup for a while so when this two-fer showed up on GC... Patiently waiting for tomorrow. This morning I was telling my son about how this really was going to be the "longest day of the year" when he remarks "WHAT today is 25 hours long"? He raps. Go figure.

Oops. Back on topic. Pick a favorite. I'm trying to decide whether to keep all the G&Ls and sell off some other basses, or maybe sell one or two of the G&Ls (ducking for cover...). I don't really *need* to have two SB2s , or two L2000s... But I do like them. Who am I kidding? I'm asking G&L fanatics whether I should keep all my G&Ls! I should remind myself to just delete this post later. 
BTW, the blue L2k is refinished in something in between Lake Placid Blue and G&L's Midnight Blue, and I've modded it with the K switching (push pull on vol pot) and OMG mode (push pull on treble pot). Waiting for what? Pay or to buy! I hope they're holding it for you! I want a Tom Hamilton for some reason... I don't like him, but I love his bass!
