Got this bass from @bonin in the boneyard
He had it strung with TI Jazz Rounds.
Before he shipped it, he said he could string it with something else.

I was curious about the TI's, so I said leave those on.

Man. These strings are nice.
Not quite the same tone/flavour of my usual GHS light gauge Boomers, but they're nice and flexible, and they're smoother feeling.

Jefff100 was kind enough to send me the strings free of charge. I also got to chat with him a bit...this thread is a great place. And Jeff is definitely a kind, generous and super cool member of this crazy G&L community.

I've been using the TI Flats on my L1000 for awhile now. Just for the fun of it I bought a short scale Sterling Stingray and I installed a set of TI Jazz Rounds on it. Man I'm in love with these strings. About as much as I am with the Flats on the L1000. I plan on picking up a set for my L2000. I can understand why people won't be crazy about the lighter gauge but they are really a pleasure to play.

I have found TI's to be a pretty resilient string. Very well constructed. When or if you try the 32" set I think you will find them equally comfortable and they will sound just as nice.

The JF344's are .100/.070/.056/.043 and the JF324's have the e string gauge at .106. Not the end of the world in terms of thickness but it would be a change.

The thing I really dig about the JR324's is how light they are. The rounds are .093/.069/.056/.042. I was afraid the e string would be too loose based on my experiences with similar gauge e strings on my Bass VI but it turns out the e string is phenomenal. Open e sounds like a piano with on my Stingray.

New pickguard day.

My '93 LB-100 has an original aged perloid guard, and the yellowness of it has just been wearing on me. I had a couple of attempts at cutting my own, that ended functional but not the best looking. I tried mint and ivory (somewhere between cream and parchment), and really didn't totally like either color.

So this time I went to Pickguard Heaven and got plain old W/B/W. And I love it. Crisp and vibrant and makes the Belair green pop, just like an old Chevy.

The new guard fit great, everything lined up, went on super easily. There's just a small gap on the E string side around the neck pocket, but it's pretty negligible.

I want to get a pickguard made for my l-1000 that's in the same color.
I really like the pearl swirl color on yours. (The pure white looks great too).

I like the aged pearl when holding it up against red or even blue, but the Belair green just looked a little yellowish with it on. I guess it just wore on me over time.

The original pickup covers were white, too, and it just didn't totally sit well with the aged pearl. I might try them again with the white guard eventually.
