Hey all,
I just started playing this after about 6 months of exclusively playing my Pedulla. I missed it & love playing it, not more or less than the Pedulla - just different.
Here are the specs:
2004 (or 2005) G&L L2500 MIA, currently strung with DR Lo-riders, equipped with black Dunlop Straplocks

Well, the one in your Avatar certainly looks familiar! I dig my L2500 Trib - and I had to let the Ash & maple L 2000 go to get it but I do miss that one ...

I just adore this one. I have a feeling my next bass also will be a G&L. I had really high expectations after having read so much good about them, but this was a lot better than I had hoped!

This was (and I'm sure still is) a particulary good bass. Really easy to setup and great sounding.

oh well then, three can play that game ... (Jeekers seems to like this one ...) Strung E through C, Thomastic Super Alloy's and Audere Vol & Blend, 3 band EQ installed. The switches are z-mode and coil selecting neck, coil selecting bridge. I get single, series and parallele from the coil selecting switches.
gotta love that cat. He's only a year or so and he's already perfected the "You annoy me with your presence" look ... nice taste in basses anyway. I shot three while the sun was out and this was the only one he examined ...

and on a catch and release basis a 9.5 lb Tribute SB-2 with new pickguard. Nice player ... a J neck though so this one is down in the GFS. I thought these guys had P necks ... oh well. Pays to ask I guess...

Cute cat! Looks a bit like one of mine, allthough mine is quite a bit fatter, haha.
I am going to use (and still use on the L2K I got from you) TI superalloys on my L2500 as well. I want to thank you for including those with the L2K you sold to me. They suit the G&L's really well, and I just love them.
In my experience, Super Alloy's make everything sound better. It's certainly my favorite round wound string. And they last... when you get on it, it's about the least expensive upgrade one can make...

How does it sound with the Audere Preamp? I'm temptated to put one in my L-2500 . . . It will not be a G&L anymorew but, I would love to check out

The bass that sold me on Audere was Dave Meadow's personal L2000 with NO TONE CONTROLS ! His is wired up Master Vol, Neck Vol, Bridge Vol, z-mode and coil selector's ... I spent the day after I demoed it trying to buy it ...
I am not a fan of the active L2K tones though - how often does one actually need a 10 db boost on a switch ? or treble on top of that ? Nope - my fav L series tones are the passive ones. The Audere let's that same character ring through and if you really want that gnarly treble thing ... use the EQ ...
My pre was re-worked by Dave as I originally ordered it with no tone controls - then decided I needed EQ later. It is essentially a stock 3ZB Vol, Blend with stacked mid, stacked Bass & Treble.
Installation isn't all that bad but you do need to solder. Happily the G&L pre somes out intact. 1 piece so with a diagram of where the pickup wires went - it can be easily reinstalled.
You also need to get two On-On-On DPST switches (Dave may be able to supply them, I got mine from Butch at Bayou Cables, Stew Mac has them as well.)
On the pickup itself, there is a green wire that grounds the pickup 'chassis'. It connects to ground in the control cavity. That one get's unsoldered from the pickup chassis (booster magnet I think) and you have to solder in a jumper to connect the two pieces together.
Then you;re on to wiring the switch which follows the Dimarzio humbucker wiring scheme. There is a diagram for single, series, parallel out on the web. Should anyone decide to give ita shot, I'll hook you up with that if you need it.

I just felt so damn dizzy >.< guess I'll need to study very well so i won't just ruine the preamp . . I'll tell ya what i decide later

I will try it out but i need to save and have my bass back first >.< . . . i have a post where it is being builting a new neck for it. . . so when it arrives and i gt the preamp I'll pm ya for that diagrams and schemas you got
