I noticed there is a serious lack of L2000's in this thread :eyebrow: so here is my new one-

2008 blonde L2000 with Gun oil tint neck.

Also:
2008 Orange cat "Finnegan"

Edit: Looked under the pickup and turns out it's made june 29 2007.

I've owned three L2000/L2500 Tributes and I always thought the preamp was holding it back. I didn't like the impact that the active settings added, and preferred using it in passive in single coil mode.

The Audere with EQ flat is a bit clearer than the passive mode of the stock preamp. I truly believe that this preamp makes this bass, though. I can't imagine needing to boost bass with these pups, but you can cut/boost mids and boosting treble is really nice! I found the stock active w/treble boost to be too harsh/hissy but boosting treble on the Audere adds hiss-free clarity. With treble boosted the parallel mode sounds like a thick single coil pickup.

I'm going to see what I can do to trade my Audere 3ZB for one of their Classic 4-band pre's because I never use the Z-mode switch. I'm also going to do a full copper shielding job and replace the series/single coil/parallel switches with outer singles/parallel/inner singles switches.

I do eventually need to get some lemon oil on the fretboard, but it looks a lot better in person than it does in the pictures.

I'm trying to sell the current Audere preamp and put a different Audere preamp in there. When I do I plan on a major overhaul. I'm going to shield the control cavity with copper foil, replace the series/single coil/parallel switches with outer coil/parallel/inner coil switches, and clean the fretboard with lemon oil.

Thanks man...I have mentioned this before, but when I first saw these pics of the bass (I bought it from another TB'r), it just spoke to me...I had to have it...and am loving it...

Hey G&L guys!!! I want to join the club but I need a G&L bass first. :D

I have been looking for a lined fretless US L-2500 for some time now. If any of you know where I can score a nice used one please shoot me a PM. Natural wood body binding would be a nice plus.

Hope to be able to join soon...................;)
