G&L Headstock

Does anyone know what year G&L went from its smooth, slightly curved headstock to the pointed headstock?

It was only a couple of years after they started production. Mid 80's IIRC. Check on the G&L forum, there are plenty over there with "prelawsuit" headstocks.

I wanna say it was 1982 or 1983...not exactly sure but the G&L Forum would know.

Different models lasted longer with the smooth headstock than others did. There wasn't a definite line of demarcation throughout the line. I have an '84 L-2000 with the "modern" headstock, but I've had other models (SB-1 and SB-2 in particular) that had the "smooth" headstock in '86 and later.

I think the one they have going now is cool, they are really nice with matching headstock.
