G&L L-1000 Bleg

Sorry! No new arrivals, and no news to report other than that. I do have one with photos taken but not yet posted (sorry, Josh!!!). I'll try to get those up before I leave today...

I need to thank a few folks; bdgotoh who answered a lot of my initial G&L questions and recommended Greg, craigb whom Greg says happened to inquire about L1000s right around the same time as I which (I think) was sort of the incentive for Greg to run it past his G&L rep, and of course huge thanks to Greg for making it happen. Over the years I've asked numerous dealers about L1000s and approaching G&L to build one (or more!), and Greg is the only one to see it though. Bravo!
The bass is awesome. I bought an L1000 new back @ 1986, played it for some time before giving it a horrible defret job and then sold it. I've always missed it, and this is basically a match to the one I butchered (except that one had a rosewood fretted board, at least to start). It's light and comfortable to play, and the neck is fast. And the tones are both varied and useful.

And as always thanks to Greg for taking all my cockamamie requests to G&L to see what they would do My very first G&L ever was cream L1K I picked up used back in '99. I only had it for a few days as the truss rod was not working and I returned it, but those few days were enough to send me down my long and twisted G&L road.

G&L was so cruel to send some but not all of these!! LOL
I had been thinking about doing the very same thing. I was waiting for when I would have the funds to do it as it wouldn't be good to make a special request and then not have the funds to order one. I'm happy this came about and hopefully G&L will put this great bass back in the rotation.Great minds think alike, they say

I'm still taking orders on these, so it is essentially back in the rotation. Maybe not officially available through all G&L dealers... but I'm OK with that.

Greg, seeing as the final neck shaping is done by hand, is there any chance that they could do a thinner neck profile closer to the old L1Ks?
I'm not sure... but even if they would, I'm afraid it's too late to change any of the outstanding orders... G&L is really, really strict about not changing orders once they're submitted. Their sales office and the actual factory are in two separate buildings. Once an order enter the factory, there's NO changing it. I've begged and gotten absolutely nowhere several times in the past...
