Much as I struggled to play it (lefty that it is, righty that I am), I thought it sounded REALLY good.
Just a quick pricing update for any future orders (not orders already placed, just new orders that we place down the road):
As of August 1, the L-1000 now starts at $1600 MSRP, and the L-1005 now starts at $1750 MSRP.

Only three basses that haven't been delivered yet, and of course one of them is mine.

I **so** wish I could get this in a medium or short scale. Thinking about building a Warmoth version of the L-1000 as an alternative.
I've got a really hammered on and worn black/maple '81 L1000. It's about 9 lbs and has a great tone. The neck is 1.625" and fairly medium sized - not thick at all. The 3 way switch (humbucker/single coil/single coil with bass boost) is really awesome and allows really cool tonal options. I definitely recommend the bass but I also recommend playing one before buying. Some of these basses can be VERY heavy.
The ones in this special edition from Rocket have been lightweight but you are right some of the old ones are heavy. G&L only makes 34" scale basses.

Yeah, I specifically asked for "lightweight" when I ordered all of these. Of the 7-8 that have arrived so far, I'm not sure we've cracked 9 lbs. On the 4 strings, anyway.
