I voted to keep the rosewood because I think it's cooler to have an all-'81 in such great shape, and I think the chrome control plate would look badass on stage. I love the G&L black hardware, but I think it looks better on basses with lighter finishes. On this one, I prefer the chrome.

I say left as I'm partial to redwood/dark necks. However, I am smitten with the black control plate and bridge of the right bass. I voted left, but I'd swap the hardware.

I have the CLF reissue in gold, but would LOVE to get black hardware on it.

I'm a big fan of G&L maple necks for tone and black plate/hardware for looks, so that would be my vote. Both are pretty sweet, for sure.

I generally prefer the look of a dark fingerboard, but it's the weight that would be the real deciding factor for me.

I say swap the necks and sell the rosewood neck installed on the body on the right in the photo. I voted to keep the right one, because if I had to keep them together that's the one I'd keep.

Are you sure that's rosewood? It might be ebony for '81.

This should be a slam dunk; '81 hogburst, ebony, and slots trumps everything else. That's the King of the vintage G&L's. Like new condition and a full pound lighter? (read; "less heavy")

Both nice! I had one exactly like the one on the right. I have a kinky fetish for the crinkle coat finish on the hardware so that's my choice.

They really are both nice! That's not crinkle finish on that one, just smooth black. Which is just as cool. And sorta rare.
