G&L L2500 mfd pickup height

So I just bought a new G&L L2500 tribute series. My first 5 string! I hope some of you can save me some time and hassle. I have adjusted the pickup height as close to the strings as possible so that the strings don't hit the pole pieces (which are flat on The pup)while playing.

Would there be any difference in sound if I lowered the pickup height closer to the body and also raised the pole pieces closer to the strings?

There is a lot of adjustment there and I'm trying to save the time of needless experimentation.

Has anyone tried it?

The pole pieces are adjustable to “fine-tune” individual string output. Set your desired pickup height, and if one or two strings seem to be quieter than the rest, adjust those individual pole pieces to increase output of those strings.
I don’t have any of my pole pieces raised, I don’t have any output issues.
