G&L vs. Lakland

I prefer the Lakland neck BUT G&L's are a great deal. Lots of options for pretty much production bass money. On the used market G&L's are even more of a stupid good deal.

I've owned a 4-94 and lots of G&Ls. it was so cool having a Lakland, and it was indeed a beautiful instrument, but I just couldn't bond with the Bart pickups. The MFDs were definitely my cup of tea. The jazz neck on the SB-2 was icing on the cake. Lots of color options on G&Ls, and the price difference is obvious.
I think I'll go the G&L route, wish I had a dealer in town! Thanks for the input guys who knows maybe ill end up with both! Those Decade basses look killer

I'll +1 this. Not that the Bart loaded Lakies are bad. Faaaarrrr from it! Killer basses. But there's just something about those MFD's.

Lots of great choices when looking for a G&L. Finishes are beautiful. Enough neck choices for most players. And the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. All, IMO, IME, etc etc.

BUT, you can't go wrong with either choice. Again, IMO, any choice you make is going to be good!! Have fun with the hunt!! :bassist:

+2. I only bought my first USA L2K because it was only $450, and had a bit of ski jump. I knew nothing about them other than the Leo connection, I just new that was a good deal. Hard case and all. Got it home and plugged it in and...well, I wound up buying a fretless USA L2k, and then sold my USA Stingray, USA Sterling, and both my Pedulla 5 strings. All fantastic basses, but they couldn't match the G&Ls.

Try both. They're both good but different. You'll know more or less instantly which sound and feel yo prefer. I definitely prefer G&L but if you liked the Lakland better, it would be worth the price difference if it were going to be your main bass.
