Personally, I'd swing towards a G&L over a Lakland....but you can't go wrong with either brands really....both great if you like fender-esq basses.

That's the idea eventually. I like to do a lot of research ahead of timeI thought you were looking at jazz basses?
Are you getting both a P and a J?
I would go with G&L and get more for your money! G&L is honest about where there instruments are made, either in the U.S. or overseas. laklands, on the other hand are either made in Indonesia or assembled in the U.S. from parts made for them by Cort. Cort is in Korea! So for lakland to call it "U.S." series is a bit of a stretch to put it politely! And what they charge for these instruments, ridiculous! You can see and hear this for yourself on good ol' you tube. I bash lakland every chance I get because their warranty card is made from imported toilet paper!!

I've never played a pj I liked but I heard so much good stuff about those sb2s that I want to try oneMaybe something like a G&L SB-2 or a Lull P/J would scratch both itches.
