The wire on my school's Gage realist pickup crackles when moved. Looks like the 1/4" jack was pulled off the tailpiece.

Any suggestions on the kind of repair person I should be looking for for this? Anyone in the Bay Area/East Bay?

Any guidance appreciated.

That is a great idea! My realist pickup self destructed itself at least that is what I thought!! But when my friend complained about his pickup loosing volume and gave it to me I carefully opened it to see what happened and I must say it is a genius design and full respect to Realist! All realist users noticed the two little round disc shape protruding visibly through the both side of the coil, well these little disc's are the piezo's and the copper foil touching one side and another foil touching the other side and the two foils are segregated by that black stuff that once opened just seem like a double sided reasonably hard sticky material. The self destruction comes after observing two pickups is a great surprise to me as well as to any reader!!! In both of the pickups the little round piezo disc were broken in half in one and broken in 4-5 pieces!! Losing it's integrity, its soul in a sense caused the so called self destruction. These piezos are flat and I guess they get tired and shatter after several years of huge pressure under the foot of the bridge. Now if one opens the foil carefully and take the broken disc out replacing it with a disc from another self destructed Realist and close it up again you'll have a Realist as good as new! If both disc's are broken than you out of luck!

Because I no longer desire to put a pickup under the foot I have made a pickup that works like the Bass Max using only one disc! Works nice! IMO! I am happy to post a picture of it. It is still a Realist pickup slightly modified to save it fromm the rubbish bin!!

Attn all realist users... if you have one self destruct please send it to me instead of throwing it in the trash. I would like the opportunity to open one up before I need to repair the one I'm currently using.

Thanks
