Every Ampeg i've played has colored my tone to the point where I want to vomit.

GK + EB cabs. Truly brings out the tone of my SR5s with plenty of punch and clarity.

ampeg, unless you have a bass that you absolutely LOVE the tone that comes naturally out of it. Ampeg colors the tone of your insturment in just the right places if it is needed. gk is just flat and IMO boring

the GK does its thing well though.

I'd never pay retail for ampeg, but i would for Krueger. From my world where i'll never be a pro and my money is hard to come by i'd take the krueger every time.

Definitely GK, Ampeg is too muddy and it has kind of undefined sound for me.

I'm stuck. for small gigs (jazz, either electric or upright bass)...I'm looking at an Ampeg BA112 or a GK 112MBX. They're both small, and seem to be a bang for your buck type of thing. any suggestions? arguments? alternatives?

My vote is for vintage Ampeg...think B-15 flip-top. But for new, my vote is for GK. I picked up a GK 700RB not too long ago and really like the tone for EB and UB.

Everybody loves something, I'm sure that more Ampeg fans will ring-in on this one.

I prefer my GK2001RB to the VR and CL's that I owned (both nice amps). I feel like the GK can cop similar tones as well as ones neither of those could, and I feel a lot better about GK's build quality, reliability, and customer service.
