Galien Krueger vs Ampeg

No..who's Kim nekroman??
Kim_Nekroman_live.jpg

Psychobilly guy. Has a band called Nekromantix and another called Horrorpops where he plays guitar. He's a GK endorser who's said many bad and wrong things about Ampeg gear ;)

Why do some people feel the need to bash someone because some of their stuff is made in China? And it was not that long ago that GK was making stuff in China, too, and I rarely if ever heard anyone take a potshot at them.

I didn't see that poster bashing Ampeg because it is made in China, he was speaking positively about GK being made in the US.

Yeah, only problem is it's a GK.

By the way, I have a couple 30 year old SVTs that are still the cat's ***.

I'm guessing it must be a matter of affordability.

Nope, GK sounds better to my ear and is absolutely bullet proof.

while you make a good point at least it would have been good a few years ago, it should be noted that at least in my locale, I can pick up an ampeg PF-anything for cheaper than the GK MB equivalent. Not to mention the similar prices on most cabinets.

Not to sound like an Ampeg basher, I really do like their stuff. But the PF-500 doesn't really have the reputation of being reliable. The MB stuff is solid. Ampeg hasn't had the best luck so far with Class D amps.

I have had more amp and cab configurations over the years than I can recall or count.

I have owned GK and Ampeg, but the Ampeg has been the only constant. It just sounds bigger, louder, fuller, warmer, and offers a variety of sounds that pleases my ear.

That is my completely un scientific, biased, one sided and unsupported opinion.

Seen more than a couple threads about MB problems ;) But it also seems like both have got their problems worked out now.

As is pretty much every other comment in this thread, including mine of course!

Worth reminding ;)

I own a GK MB Fusion 500 and it sounds amazing—and only weighs 3.75 lbs. I love it. So I'll have to go with GK.

It is interesting how these old threads come back to life. It reminds me of "The Walking Dead".

It's comes from people actually using the "search" function. Then when they don't people tell them to use the search function?
So you have a choice don't search the wealth of info and get told to or search and get the "ZOMBIE Thread" ribbing. ;)

Was an Ampeg/Magnavox player but been G-K for over a decade. Would I weep if I had to go back to Ampeg/?, no but I would miss the G-K more than I miss Ampeg now.

+1 my sentiments exactly. I love the amps pictured in my avatar. but GK just flipped some kind of switch for me, and i've become a convert. It will probably be the foundation of my sound from now on.
