Gallien-Krueger 410SBX Replacement Speaker

Soo, I've had my 8ohm GK 410SBX cabinet for about half a year, and I play with a GK 1001RBII head. We share our practice space with a handful of other bands, and I came to practice one day to find one of my 410SBX speakers blown (top left). I have plenty of friends who can help me with the repair, I just need a replacement speaker.

But the GK site says that they're sold out of the 410SBX speaker, which specifically is a Paragon 100w 32ohm 38Hz...and I've been unable to get in touch with them, by email or by phone. I have a show that I hope to use my amp at in about two weeks and want to get up and running asap. Do I need that exact speaker? I know that the 410SBX is closed instead of ported, if that makes a difference. Is it okay to have mismatched speakers?

And if that's doable, where can I get another 32ohm speaker? They don't exactly seem to be plentiful. Can I get one from, say Eminence? And if not, can I just get a similar GK speaker, like the 410RBX speaker?

Sorry for the load of questions.

Forgive me if I'm missing something, but B-String, are you *sure* that's a 32ohm driver? I'm just clarifying 'cause it says 16ohm on the link.

Do you think it would be worth it to put up a WTB for a 32ohm speaker? Replacements from GK seem to be pretty pricey. I only say that because I'm pretty sure I paid low $200's for the cab to begin with.

Wes Whitmore, PM'd.

If it lists the driver for use in 8 ohm 410 cabs it has to be a 32 ohm driver. I did report this to G-K a couple of months ago, but only one person maintains the web site with many other duties as well.
IMO I'd take Wes Whitmore on his offer if it's reasonable so you would have all matching 100 watts drivers. The 200 watt version will work great, but if you don't plan at some point to update all, a good used speaker makes better sense.

I talked to Lailany (believe that's the name) at GK today and checked my serial numbers. Turns out they got some of the driver I need in and they're just going through testing...I should be able to get an order in by the end of the week. Very helpful

Some of the other people who use my amp are going to pitch in a few bucks (or so they *say*...actually getting money from musicians is more difficult), and speed is more important at this point than getting the world's best deal. Wes decided to save his SBX so that's not going through.

I was under the impression that reconing was mainly for tears in the cone...I don't actually have any visible tears, in fact, I took it out to get the serial today and the speaker looks cosmetically fine. Could the problem be elsewhere? A couple of my more music/electronics-savvy friends agreed that it was definitely a problem with the upper-left speaker, which is what I'm basically going on.
