Not sure if this is the right forum, mods feel free to move it...

I'm getting a 4 space rack to put in a Gallien Krueger 700iiRB (which takes up 2u), and I'm putting in a Korg DTR1000(which takes up 1u). I noticed that the fan is on the top of the gallien krueger head and I was wondering if I should leave a space in between the head and the tuner or is it okay to stack them on top of each other? Im not exactly sure how it'll line up, waiting for UPS to drop them off in the next few days... I want to get a power conditioner to fill up that 1u if I can stack them above each other.

Thanks
Joe

If you're set on getting the tuner/power conditioner, I'd still try to put the amp at the top...some cases (like the SKB one I have) have a little bit of extra space at the top.

I personally do leave 1u open for my 1001RBII and I'm under the impression that it's a pretty good idea.

From the looks of the fan you would be fine putting the amp on the bottom, the dtr-1000 is really shallow and shouldn't cover much of that fan. As for the conditioner that's up to you, if it is on top of the tuner I think there will be enough room for the fan to work. You could get all of the parts pop it in the rack and see how it fits.

Here's my gigging rack - it's been this way for about a year now, with no problems whatsoever... That included several gigs with 95F plus temps - you'll be just fine...

Although I agree that leaving an open space on top is nice, I don't think it's entirely necessary... Also, after running my amp on the top, or on the bottom with the tuner directly above it, I *think* having the tuner above it allows for more airflow than with the amp on top, and up against the underside of the rack's top... I still had about 3/4" clearance with the amp on top, but much more with it on the bottom...
