So from my understanding, the Plex will work with the mbp cabinets ? I would just run a cable from the 1/4 output on the Plex to the xlr input of the cabinet ?
The web site just says it "supports GK MBP powered enclosures"
@rag, what say you? 1/4" output or the XLR output to run an MBP with the PLEX?

So, I was originally gonna wait and buy a 700RB, but I found a good deal on an 800RB.
Someone tell me why I should jump on the 800RB and why I should skip the 800RB? How does the 800RB differ?

the 800rb is a great amp, it also has a bonus amp, built in!!
(bi-amp capable) so you can run main cab(s) 300 watts at 4ohm (minimum load), and have a 100 @8ohm with a separate volume control for a monitor.
The 700rb is a good amp as well, but I have no experience with one.

I own both a 700 and a 800Rb. The 800RB is my main amp. The 700 is my back up. Ive never had an issue with the 800 though.
How do they differ tone-wise? I've heard the 800RB is described as more aggressive while the 700RB is warmer.
And the bi-amp doesn't concern me. Just want that GK tone.
EDIT: Nevermind, just found an original 400RB for a price I couldn't pass up.

To answer your question anyway. The biggest difference is that the 700RB has tons more low end. You can dial in a 800RB tone pretty easy with a 700. Same with the 400. You cant really go wrong with any of them. Im mainly using the 800 because its easier to get that GK grind at a reasonable volume level than I can with the 700.

Actually was looking for a 400RB (series 1 or 2) in the first place because it would be easier to get that power amp growl. So, I went ahead and bought it.
Even if it doesn't cut it live, it would be nice for recording since it'll be easier to manage. Might still get a 700RB or 1001RB down the road.
What are you using for a cab ? Im running a Neo 412. I could get away with a 400RB no problem I'm sure. Playing metal, 2 guitarist with a ton of gain.
A pair of Ampeg 410HEs. Which I was thinking about exchanging for a 412 down the road.
Yeah I'd imagine. Just thought I'd change to 12's in the future. I like the sound of 15s, but I think a GK 412 Neo would be the best balance of the sound from 15s and 10s.
They are pretty even sounding, Very different than the sealed Ampegs though. Cant go wrong with either IMO
I saw the bands Mylets and El Ten Eleven this weekend. Mylets is one dude on guitar with a drum machine and a crap-ton of pedals. El Ten Eleven is a live drummer with a bass player (sometimes plays a double neck guitar/bass) who also has a crap-ton of pedals. They shared an RBH 115 (couldn't see which amp, but it was small) and it sounded great for both bands. I was extremely impressed with that cab!
Finally got to use my 2001 live this weekend. The first thing that got me, WAY too much bass. I had it initially set @1. I believe it ended up around 11. I ran it into 2 ampeg 8x10e cabs. Man did it sound good, it was sooo loud. I was really surprised considering the wattage but yeah, I had my woofer maxed (as always) and the vol literally cracked. That'll show the guitar player!
From my personal past experience with using two GK Neo 112-iis as my main rig, this sounds like a great plan. I'd go so far as to say that in my opinion this should be a decent improvement in general, not even just in terms of downsizing, from your CX cab combination.
Got to crank this through my 810 last week while the wife and kids were out. Hot damn do I love this head.
