Anyone using the Alpha Omega Ultra with their GK heads ? I am just curious as to whether the eq on the pedal is very useful considering they cover very close to the same frequencies that the GK head covers.
I am but Ive been running into the amps preamp return. Otherwise I will forever fiddle with the EQ and never be happy.
I just did a test plugging into the front end Vs plugging in to the preamp return. Using it plugging in the front I found it best with the EQ flat. However I found the contour and presence useful for dialing in the cabinet I'm using which I found very dark and overly low.
I am running my AO:U straight into the front end of my 1001RB. For what I do, I use the pedal's EQ to color the DI signal to FOH via XLR. Since the 1/4" outs don't have cab sim, I use the GK eq to just tweak a little bit to get a stage sound that I'm happy with. I have tried running the AO:U into the FX loop return, but I was not impressed with the outcome. Stacking the DG sound on top of the GK sound works really well for me.
Hi all, thanks for your quick responses re amp clipping, great to know that your fellow bass brethren have your back. It appears to be all sorted, took it to Basscentre Melbourne with bass to troubleshoot and we ended up simply lowering the pick ups on bass. Enjoy!
Anyone else patiently waiting for the new heads to come out? I've had $500 of credit at Long & McQuade for months but don't want to buy a fusion 800 without trying the new line. Can't even find a YouTube clip of this amp. Last I heard they were coming out in June. Am I the only one?

I'm waiting. I hope that quality will be better than on previous models. Especially RB series. Geeez ! Those amps break like a sticks and have a lot of buzz with them. MBF was really nice but not so much open sound (sounds like somebody just turn off the treble knob on them). New series would be a mix of both so maby finally great product ?
I'm with you on that one. I'm looking to try the 500 version of the new one as soon as it is available.
????????? RB amps prone to breaking? Have heard of the occasional problem with one, but it's never been a line-wide issue that I've known of. Mine is a tank, as is nearly every other RB I've every experienced. They've been essentially unchanged for nearly 20 years for good reason. The MBF line is pretty good and has solid tone. Not sure what you mean by them sounding like they had the treble knob turned off. The ones I've demo'd have had plenty of top end. I demo'd one through a Markbass 410/115 stack it had enough high end to tear heads off. Played an MBF800 through an Ampeg 810e and yeah it didn't have as much top end because the cab had no tweeter. I've yet to see a case where any GK was lacking the ability to produce top end.
Can't agree with you on the quality thing. GK amps have served me well. I have both a 700 and 1001RBii, and they have been dead quiet with no issues whatsoever — except I have an occasional problem with volume... TOO MUCH!

Never ever had any issues with my GK gear (400RB-II, 400RB-III, MB200, MB112 combo, MB150S + 112MBX, NEO112, NEO212, 210RBH...) other than after 10yrs+ of use have the heads cleaned inside + pots.
Worst issue I've ever had with my GK amps has been user error...
He may be referring to those old rumors that GKs were prone to breakdowns. I remember hearing those rumors at one point as well, that GK stuff couldn't be trusted to be "mission critical". The more I researched the more I determined that there may have been a bad batch somewhere along the line, but it wasn't a line-wide issue. It almost put me off from getting my own GK. The more I saw venues using GK RBs as their backline for bassist after bassist, style after style, night after night, without fail, the more I realized that there was likely little merit to the claims of GKs reliability being questionable. I will still reference that the RB line is essentially unchanged after 2 decades, and many of us here have stated that we hope that it doesn't change. That is a testament to quality and reliability IMHO.
He's likely referring to the early 1000 and 2000RBs. That had issues. I had problems with my 700RB but it's been fine for 4 years now. I rarely hear of issue with RBs
My 700RB II and MB200 have always worked without flaw. My 212 Neo plays thunderously loud and sounds great with either head. The MB200 goes well with my Hartke HD112.

Interesting that you mentioned that because I too find that GK heads and Hartke cabs typically sound really good together...and of course, GK on GK is always a winner as well IME.
