The tweeter is driven by an LM3886 chip...but the question is what other components got damaged when the HF amp chip went:

That schematic is for the 700RB-II - it might be different if your combo is the Mark I series.
Yeah, it's an MK1. Perhaps I won't bother as you suggested.
I just repaired a 412 cab, and it was the tweeter that was the problem , it kept back feeding and blowing fuses on the crossover.
Are you positive its the 50w section in the amp ? Cables are ok?
I had thought that the horn was out and had bought a cx 1x15 and the horn on it doesn't work either and I believe i'm running the right cable to it.
Check the ceramic coupling caps also.
Tip on replacing LM3886 ans similar style parts: get small diagonal cutters like the Wiha 56818. Cut the legs off the package and remove the leads one at a time with your solder iron and tweezers. Solder wick the solder pads clear and clean with electronics grade isopropyl.
