I want to say they are for me but I’d be lying. I want this. Seems perfect for high power bridged as well as rails tones at every other ohm not bridged. I’m seriously contemplating moving at least 1 if not 2 of my 700 and 1001rbii amps to give this a home among the remaining one each lol.

I had a 700RB but sadly I sold it when times were tough. I loved that amp.

25 lbs for the 1001 version. 400w at 4ohms should be plenty given the efficiency of modern cabs. Would love to try one.

Curious about "burst". I haven't heard that term before (2000 watts burst @ 4 ohms, on the website specs list). Anyone? @agedhorse ?

I imagine they mean peak power.

Generally, burst power is defined as the RMS power over a 20mSec tone burst. It's generally unrelated to peak, though it depends on the amount of creativity being used by a marketing department. I am pretty sure that's not the case here.

Burst power was often used in addition to continuous to describe dynamic headroom for full range signals, the challenge with using this for bass is that 20mSec is only 1 cycle at 50Hz which is why it has fallen out of favor for bass and subwoofer applications. For example, using a 1kHz signal, this represents 20 cycles which is more musically significant.

I really do like the sound clips, especially of the dirty pick playing. I'm wondering if 400W is enough, but 300W at 8ohm is roughly what I get from my current head and that's loud enough for stage monitoring. Very rare these days I don't have FOH support, and I imagine going through two Barefaced Compacts would put out enough volume to get by in any situation I need.

I've generally been moving away from class D heads, and I've never owned a GK amp that would let me 'hit the rails', so this is very intriguing

Who are these for, though? It’d be nice to see GK make a bit of a comeback but it’s hard to imagine that these heads are gonna find a huge audience with the general public as so many people seem to prioritize portability (and really, 25-40lb isn’t that bad in a smallish form factor like that).

2 ohm and cab sim is nice. A bit disappointed by the increased in size from old 1001RB / 700RB.

I imagine a lot of these will go to touring artists still using the old RB amps. You don't really want artists using amps you don't sell.

Certainly not cheap, but keep in mind the GK amps are made in the USA.

People like me who are glutton for RB series, amps lol. I’m looking at the 2001 rb as it has high power in bridge mode as well as rail, hitting ability in the non-bridged mode.

I think the price is fair. I paid similar money for top of the line SWR and Trace Elliott amps in the 90’s.

I own two 800RBs and totally would go for one of these new fellers as well. Sound is FANTASTIC and I can only imagine how they respond under my fingers.

Honestly, $1,500 is a steal compared to the high end guitar amps that are on the market.

These should exist. I’m glad they exist. I don’t need one but I will buy one. The RBs are my favorite amps ever. When I stopped using mine, I just stopped using amps altogether and went all direct. I will find a reason to use amps again.

i don't know if it is for me or not. i'm not really in the amp market anymore. would depend on the sound, i guess. cool to see something different, though.

Love it! And don‘t forget: GK Watts are REAL watts! 300 is plenty, that‘s why a lot of folks prefered the 400RB over the 800RB: so they sooner got to hit the rails.

25lb is nothing for a non-class D amp.
