Post-script to this thread: 2 mile high spike and I worked out an arrangement and I now have my GK 1x12 MBP. Sounds great and I’ll probably need the extra cab once or twice a year if I’m lucky. In the meantime it’ll look really cool sitting in my basement

Gallien Krueger MB and MBP 112

Resurrecting this with a related question the answer to which I was otherwise unable to find on TB. I was using the DI on my MB112 to a Crown XLS 1000 power amp (no preamp) connected to a GK 410SX. Sounded ok. Then I connected the Crown(no preamp)/410SX using the output on the MB112 that says "use only with an MBP" and it sounded fantastic. Does anyone know whether there is an issue with using an amp that is NOT an MBP with the MBP output? Thanks.

There shouldn’t be a problem. I forgot the specifics but the output on the MB has certain sensitivity. I believe it was set up that way so only an MBP could be used. The Crown has an adjustable sensitivity so that’s why it works. Your using the power section of theMB as pre amp to the Crown. Maybe someone mo knowledgeable than myself will contribute, but you should be ok.
