Gallien Krueger MB and MBP 112

I`m considering buying a GK MB112-II, and I dont fully understand how the MBP extension cabinet works. Does it gives me another 200W of power?

It would be great if somone could explain how does it works, and if they are any good. I`m from Argentina and importing this things is really complicated...so I want to be sure.

You connect the extension to the direct out I believe. Each cab has its own power amp, but the MBP doesnt have a pre amp. So both need to be powered from the wall, the main combo controls the signal out of both cab, and you gain about 6 db of volume adding the extension.

ok I am proud to say that i am the owner of a GK MB112 II combo and the GK MBP extension cab that goes with it,this rig kicks major ass with a total of 400 watts,I'm set...It's plenty loud and has that famous GK growel ,it looks really cool too,so all it is is a powered speaker cabinet that connects to the combo with a standard mic cord thats it and of course you have to power it from the wall I also understand that I can hook up to 2 more MBPs if I wanted to,that would be a 800 watt 4x12 monster,but I dont need all that for what I do,Ill probably get away with using just the combo for most of my gigs especially if theres sound reenforcement.Ill use the MBP too if needed but just the combo itself is great for bar gigs and small to medium room gigs,I'm really stoked about this...guess I'll just have to use my GK 400 RB and my 4x10 avatar cab for a back up rig now...cant recommend it more any thumper out there would like this set up...

I just picked up a mb 112 2 and I am very impressed, I have the MBP on order and think it will be perfect for small gigs, and save the MB800 2x12 neos for the bigger rooms, with those two rigs I think my amp needs will be covered. GK ROCKS!!!!

Input level to the powered cabs needs to be at a level of +10db (that the "chain out" of the combo provides). Most preamps output from -10db to +4db, too weak a signal.

Why bother with a separate pre-amp, they are about the same price, and it's a grab'n go combo, and it sounds great as is.

I have had quite an ordeal with an amp that was not working right, very heavy and was mis advertised wattage output. taking a 400 dollar loss I traded in the problem amp for a GK MB112 -II. I would have rather gotten the MB212 but it wont be available till mid to late January.

I am about to pull it out of the box and give it a try. I am very intrigued by the MBP extension.

is it that same size as the 112 combo, are they stack-able, are there spots in the MBP for the feet of the MB?

Yes it is the same size and yes it is stackable, and no it does not have spots for the feet, but it does not move around , what it does do very well is fill a small room with thummpin GK tone! Very cool rig that covers alot of ground!

I had the original mb112 and it worked great. I used it as a practice and a small gig amp. One night as I was unloading my car for a gig I dropped the amp and it took a heavy fall. Sure enough it didn't work once I plugged it in.
I did buy one of the new mb112 II and its just as good and even better. The DI problem was corrected and you can do post and per out for the DI. Great little amp!

you aint kidding...I think the MB by itself is pretty friggin loud and my Ric sounds like a monster through it. Cant wait to get the MBP

You WILL dig it, used it last night for the start of our Xmas run of gigs in a 200 ppl size room and it just plain rocked, 2 12 inchers with 400 watts is perfect, plus it is the easiest load in/out ever, match that with a MB800 and cab(s) of choice and you will be covered for the rest of you're playing career. Kudos to Mr. Gallien and crew!

I used my new MB 115II combo with the powered MB112 at an outdoor gig last week. Lets just say the rig shook the stage and I was told to turn down when I was hardly up

I got clear tone with some growl when I dug in on more rockin tunes. We DI'ed it thru the subs and it was a great sound. I will admit the 1x12 was mis-matched so I have the matching MB115 powered cab on order and will be returning the 112.

These powered cabs are one of thre neatest things I have seen in bass amps in a long time, loud, light and cheap.

im trying to get a small powerful amp like mb112 ii , currently own a bg250 and I was thinking of selling or trading it for a mb 112 amd buy the cab to do 400w , bg250 is loud , but is bigger too , couple of pounds heavier and i just want your opinion , i know they sound different and all , i like both sound but loud wise , will it be a good choice ?? thanks for ur imput ...
