Gallien-Krueger MB2-500: Part II

most of the distortion issues appear after many hours of playing, don't you think it a little odd to want GK to basically play your amp for an indefinite amount of time to see if it works?
I'm not associated with GK in any way, but I'd think they would. So far their customer service track record indicates they're more interested in happy customers.
My distortion issues happened almost immediately while playing through the headphone output into a set of studio cans. That seems to be one way to create the distortion quickly.
I used my headphones and didnt hear any abnormal distortion. I used it for a few weeks in my bedroom and in two loud practices and a jam session with a guitarist friend of mine. Only when I sold it to somebody else and they used it on a long, loud gig did the distortion occur.
So yes, sometimes it appears right away but in my case I never heard it distort but the person who I sold it to after almost a month of me owning it did.

A number of companies burn in their amps, run power through it and monitor it for failure. I know AI does that and they say that most problems but not all rear their head in that time frame...I have no idea if GK is doing that or not...
Well, I'm back to using mine full time now, as I have to send the Carvin in for a similar distortion problem. Return UPS tag should be in the e-mail to me today. While the connection between the two seems to be the size, my Yamaha BHT500H is 2 years old with no problems.
I am seriously considering buying a GK MB2 500 from Thomann (since the GK dealer in my country is reluctant in getting new stuff in from GK).
My question is, if something goes wrong with it, will I have to send it back to Thomann, and from there will it be sent back to the USA, fixed and then shipped from the USA back to me? (sounds like a long long journey, including waiting for it to get through customs and paying the relevant amount of money)
If this is going to happen, I will probably be amp-less for 2 or 3 months, which is not good.
So what to do? Buy now, or wait till the issues get solved and there are only good MB2 500s in the market? Or is there a special policy GK uses for european customers?

I doubt the dealer will take the hit of swapping out amps directly for you in case of issues (the liklihood of which is high given history), so you will be amp-less for a long time. Also if he has stock now it is likely to be the older revisions which are known to have a higher percentage of issues. Unless you are using this only for bedroom practice and reliability isn't an important factor for you, I think you have no choice but to look at something else.

Do you know of any dealership in Greece which doesnt suck bigtime? They are all equally disappointing. This is the price we have to pay for living in this full-of-sunshine-sonic-hole...

We have replaced all of Thomanns stock with Rev 5 which are on the way to him. We have taken back all the earlier versions and will continue this policy for all his earlier sales.
Used the MB2 for revival in Sage Hall tonight, Pastor Peoples from Faith Outreach, Hephzibah, GA spoke. The MTD Artist had both drummers and the keyboardist smiling. Amp was set as follows:
-10: Off
Gain: Noon
Contour: 2:00
Treble: 10:30
Hi Mid: Noon
Low Mid: 9:00
Boost----
Master B-
Master: 9:00 to 9:30
The building introduces noise through every amp, plus I may have a grounding issue with my bass since the very high hiss goes away as soon as I touch the strings. No one else seems to notice it. The bass's active preamp is set with the treble mostly rolled off, mid halfway off, bass slightly boosted. Because of the pickup's position this is not boomy. It sounded great tonight, thanks G-K!

How much is the MB fusion going to weight?
I keep seing this GainA GainB MasterA MasterB knobs, does that mean it has 2 channels? whats the differece between them?
