Gallien-Krueger MB2-500: Part II

*I need to correct myself on a comment I made earlier. I have been running the master at 12:00 and the preamp at 9:00. Not preamp at 10:30-11:00 like I stated earlier. I will say that compared to my Eden WT-550 the MB-500 is noisier through the tweeter but, also like others have said, the tone and volume more than make up for it.

*By the way the high master and low preamp settings are what is recommended by GK as per the manual.

I gig tested mine the other night...
I was blown away...
Played with a Mike Lull VJ4 w/Nordstrand pickups and 2 MESA PH 1x12 cabs.
Very impressive.
Clean, solid, quiet... I'm going to have a hard time deciding whether to take the MB2-500 or MESA M6 Fathom....

When I bought my M^ I didn't think it was going anywhere and then I bought the MB2500 and then thought about it for a second. I am keeping both.

I plan on keeping both as well... Might pick up the FUSION version too... I like the GK heads and their 4x12 is the only cab I like. I Prefer the MESA PH 2x12... I must say the PH 1x12 is smokin'!!!

I just had my A00 version MB2-500 replaced with the latest A07 version. I had the radio interference and DI noise issues with the first unit. The replacement sounds awesome through my Avatar SB112! Thank you, Brian!

wow, A07 already? I thought it was still on A06?
My A05 replacement has been working great over the last few months of gigging though.

Hey folks!
Mostly lurker here but was watching this post with interest as I really like the tone of the MB2....purchased one 2 weeks ago..an A05 unit and it shut off on me the first gig.
Contacted GK and was told they didn't have shut off issues with the A05....use the 10 DB pad. tried that and halfway thru the gig I thought I blew the neo 212 cones. They were really moving ..then volume went so low could barely hear it then back to blast mode. Spoke to Christina? said to send it in so off she goes....hope I have as good service and results as most here.

*My A05 has been great since I got the input gain issue resolved (see previous posts). Great service from GK too I might add. I was only down a few days. I know they will take great care of you. Top notch service and tone all the way around. Definitely the loudest and best sounding amp I have ever owned (and I have had a few). I don't worry about it anymore since I know they will take care of any issue that comes up. Just can't wait till the MB Fusions are released. Will keep the MB2-500 for back up.

...And speaking of the MB Fusion...

Here's a question for the folks at G-K:

- Does it have a headphone jack, and if so, can the amp be used without any speakers (I'm thinking home recording)?

*crosses fingers*

i love this head, had both the 1001RB-II, & a 700RB-II, & this little Beast Pounds just as hard

been thru the LM-II's, the SD-800's, the RH-450's,, sold 'em all

may have to pick up the MBFusion & another set of rackears, ( as there's room here in this case for a backup, ) that would be cool, a live rig with my wireless, a head, a backup head in a 3 space case, & everything under 20 lbs..... hahaha
