Gallien-Krueger MB2-500: Part II

Got mine today used. A05 revision, played it about 3 hours hard and it rocks! Used the
-10db pad and the G.I.V.E. function quite a bit. Nice n meaty, def has the GK tone I'm used to, especially the 'GK growl'. I did not get the footswitch though with mine. Does anyone know if you can purchase it separately and is so, where?

Anyone know why the latest version of the Neo 115 cab has been so hard to come by. Was looking to get one of these in addition to the 212 that I already have (as a different tonal option and to pair with the 212 for larger venues) but they seem to be on eternal back-order. All the website dealers keep bumping back their expected arrival dates. The good thing is that the longer I wait the more my GAS subsides on its own. Finding that I don't really need another cab since I so far the single 212 with the MB2-500 has not left me wanting anything more in tone or volume. Don't know har hard I would be willing to fight for either the MB Fusion or the Neo 115 once they finally do surface.

Yes, I am posting this hoping that the GK guys will see and inspire them to get these items out to the public ASAP before our interest turns elsewhere. Don't really think it will though seeing how much I really like the MB2-500 / Neo 212 combo right now. Just a killer rig!

Hey man I just sent my A02 version MB2 back to the factory. Mine was having the same problems.I talked to Christine the rep who was sooo nice!!!! She said I'll end up just getting mine replaced with the up A07 version MB. GK service is top notch!!!

So what's the skinny with the latest updates etc....

I'm looking for one of these for Christmas and out of all micro heads this is the one that appeal to me the most.

I have tried the MB2-500 in a festival setting with an Aguilar 8x10 (that was the bass back line) and it was great,
but with all of the problems people having I'm worried I get a lemon or worse yet I'll find out performing.

I've been a GK800 user for 20 years and I'm looking to put together a micro rig
so far I have a pair of Ampeg SVT12HE (1x12 cabs) and with the GK800 it kills.

Just looking to minimize the loading with the MB2-500
especially now that I have to carry the band PA as well.

My A07 replacement is working fine for the past few weeks - though I've used it only for solo practice and weekly rehearsal. I'm not cranking it and only running for about 2 hours at a clip. But, all of the issues I had, and any that had been reported by others on this thread, do not exist in the unit I have. I do have the hiss issue that some complain about when at low gain and high master - but honestly it's not worse than many comparable amps. If you switch to high gain / lower master it's a pretty quiet amp and I prefer the tone I get that way.

We don't gig that often, so I won't have gig experience to share until our next dates in December (3rd and 12th).

If I were buying new, I would get another MB2-500. The slight issues I've experienced (RF interference and noisy DI) were more than compensated for by excellent customer service, IMO.

My set-up, BTW, is Fender J MIM -> MB2-500 -> Avatar SB112 / Hartke 4.5XL and I use the MB2-500 DI Out to our PA.

Been using my A05 one for a few weeks and it's cranked hard through an Ampeg fridge.
Played several different basses and for 3-4 hours straight each time. Not one problem yet. I'm hoping they get all this sorted out. I know what it's like to be one with a prob when everyone elses are working (I have an Imac with optical drive failure). I've been sort of fearless to see how it's holding up and it's doing well.

It's in the serial #. SOME of the units had some issues. Some people didn't like the way the EQ was set. They thought it was too bassy when the EQ was showing it was set flat (noon). You could have a first version and it could be just fine. There are many out there that are working fine.

I have an 05 and it works perfectly. Not sure how the serial numbers are generated but eventually they will go to the next series b/c they run out of numbers. :)
