+1 I really like the design of that combo. It had the flush corner casters and pop up handle for tilt back transport, and a Schroeder/TechSoundsystem slanted baffle design. Too bad they stopped making it.

someone on the Gk forums was talking about a security lock for the head so that no one could rip the cables out of your mb2 and bolt. a combo that's bigger the small footprint of the head would be harder to steal. so maybe a combo that could lock the head in place to prevent people from taking your gear?

which is the point. mr. gallien asked why we want a GK MB2 in a combo. he didn't ask if we could be satisfied with other companies small combos.

I'm having a hard time envisioning when such a thing might realistically happen. If it's plugged in and connected to your cab, then it's most likely on-stage and ready to go.

What are the odds of someone stealing your head while you're playing on-stage? :p

haha i know what you mean. but say you're playing at a club and you have a 20 min. break between sets, you probably will go and talk to people, or get a drink or something, where you wouldn't be able to guard your gear.

Well, I figured maybe 4 db more and a cleaner and bigger bottom end with the GK extension cabinet. Significant for sure and maybe enough. But I think I'd be running the power amp right on the edge which I don't consider a good thing.

Yes, I know about the Markbass. Good little amp. So are the Genz Benz. But, they are not a GK. It's that sound I want. I'm really a picky old guy. :)

I hear you there, and your 4db is probably accurate, since the power only increased about 30% versus the more typical 45% to 50% going from 8 to 4ohms). That's quite a bit though, and you would keep that MB150 tone that you dig and still be a nice small rig. I actually find the MB150 a unique voicing. It really doesn't sound like any other GK to me, much less like another brand.

You wouldn't believe how fast things can get stolen. I was doing the sound for an outdoor folk festival in drug infested part of town. I had my eyes on the stage almost all the time. At the end when the last act was packing up I went up to unplug the microphones and pack up. I took my eyes off the stage for less than 15 seconds to answer someone's question. When I got to the stage there was a $500 condenser mic gone. There were quite a few seedy looking types hanging around all day.

I also once lost a nice bicycle at a convenience store near my home. Some guy jumped on it while I was only 6 feet away and took off downhill before I could grab him. No way I could catch him. He was out of sight in seconds. He probably was smoking the crack he got for it before I walked home.

I just picked mine up yesterday. I tried it at Guitar Center with an ampeg 610 and it sounded awesome. I am going to a b it with my SVT 4 Pro through my Goliath 610 at tonight's gig. If it proves to be gig worthy I will probably be selling both the SVT and the 610 on Ebay. I think I want an Avatar b212 neo cab instead. Has anybody tried a mb2-500 through an Avatar b212 neo yet?

That was me. I was suggesting a little hole like on laptops so that a laptop cable lock could be used. Lightweight gear can be grabbed and run off with very easily. Heck, people walk off with instruments right off the stage.

Or for that matter, what are their chances of getting off the stage in one piece if they try it? :scowl:

Ooops! Did I just say that? Er, I meant, leave it to the authorities. It would be wrong to take matters into your own hands... :hiding:

Reminds me of a story from a few years ago. A couple of guys break into a car belonging to one of the more popular public defenders and stole his stuff and stuff belonging to another public defender. They were caught and brought before the judge who informed them that they had stole from the WRONG guys this time. :) I believe they had a difficult time getting someone to represent them as the fees suddenly increased.

A good lawyer would tell you to take a step away from the perp and let the bouncer do the time.

But, a good bass player would make sure that the jerk who just tried to steal your head is not able to leave the scene of the crime under his own power.

How many times have I told you guys that I am really a bass player, but with a good backup career. :D
