Gamers, what are you playing these days?

IV was just different; more real as far as a game can go. I still think I like Vice City the best overall, and III for its innovation.

Hah, I'm having a sense of deja vu!

I didn't think the additional realism worked in the GTA series, a series that was always about fun and nonsense!

Vice City was my favourite too.

PS4, opinions? Meh :-/ I don't know what to expect really, the potential quick loading looks good, nothing else seems all that amazing, well, IMO.

The main reason the delay pissed me off so bad was that it was supposed to come out this spring (as most R* games do). So to delay it so close to release is kind of a d*** move. Seeing how I've moved away from online gaming recently, I wanted to get one last, solid, single player game for the summer before I go off to college this fall. :hmm:

It's whatever though. I'm sure the delay is for the best. At the end of the day, I'd rather get a completely finished game, than a glitchy game that needs to be patched constantly.

I agree that its better than getting a crappy initial release, all too many developers seem to skimp the testing stages as they know they can patch ad they go.

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll fit some gaming in during college ;-)

I've been playing a load of Dwarf Fortress lately. Not sure if it's ever been mentioned in this thread or if any of your guys have ever heard of it. It's super addictive for people who like the style of game, and it's got more depth to it than any game I've ever played.

It's takes a while to get used to, and the learning curve is more of an Everest-esque climb as your fortress falls again and again, but that most of the fun, even the most seasoned of players are still learning new things every time they play.

The basic principal is you start with 7 dwarves in a high-fantasy world and you carve a home for them into a mountain, you're probably going to want to keep them fed (and well supplied with the lifeblood of your fortress, Booze), but above that anything else is pretty much up to you. As your fortress grows so does your population, through immigration etc. and you can have your dwarfs perform a variety of different crafts and task, mining and building rock tables and chairs, farming and hunting to feed your population, smelting metal and forging weapons and armor and a stupid amount of other things. The scope of the game is ridiculous though, every dwarf has it's own personality, appearance, skills and experience, every item is individual crafted and exists within the world. Things like material density, hardness, weight are all calculated into how weapons and armor work, dwarven physics are simulated to weird and wonderful levels of incredible detail.

It's a genre all of its own really, it a Roguelike that lies somewhere between Minecraft and SimCity, and it's the lifetime project of a single developer (with assistance from both his brother and his pet cat) who distributes the game for free and generates all his income through community donations.

Any other DF enthusiasts here? Or am I the only one stupid enough to waste hours and hours of my life with this sort of stuff...

Depending on what kind of plugs your monitor has you might be able to plug it straight into that.

Yeah, OUYA has a single HDMI out I believe, so lots of monitors would be compatible. Although unless the monitor also has a audio output, you wouldn't have any sound.

I'm pretty interested to see how OUYA turns out, I pre-ordered through kickstarter originally, so should see it sometime in the next couple of months hopefully. As an open source TV user interface sort of thing, I think it definitely has a lot of potential, more as a cool utility than a gaming device TBH.

I've just started the latest Uncharted on the PS3, but I'm honestly not playing too many console games these days, as the TV is too close to the toddler's bedroom. On the PC, I'm up to an embarrassing 300 hours on Mass Effect 3 multiplayer.

Uncharted got me back into gaming. I went through the vista version and the 1-2 on ps3 in January and I'm up to chapter 19 in the 3. This game is lots of fun. It's exactly what tomb raider should have been 15 years ago.

I just recently hit the 325 hour mark on BF3 after lots and lots of grinding to get my bloody k/d to 1.0, making up for a long time of playing it like any other shooter and with zero strategy. I've gone from .73 to .93 and with about 1200 kills left separating me and my dream of a glorious 1.0, I'm starting to think it just ain't gonna happen... :scowl:
